People do what you pay them to do.
You pay corporate executives to make stock prices go up, not to make better products.
You pay politicians to get re-elected, not to govern well.
You pay reporters to get a bigger audience, not to tell the truth.
And so forth.

It’s illegal to rank kids in children’s sports before age 12 in Norway. I find that fascinating. I wonder how many American children got put off from sports because of the results-focused culture.

Meanwhile, American winter Olympic sports are essentially talent shows for rich kids.

I wonder if the DC proximity elevates Virginia’s “solid income” similar to Maryland.
