Officials say about $2.6 million has been allocated for the project as of right now, but they could need more money down the line. "Protecting people is worth what we spend money on," Kupin said. The pilot program will last a year, then possibly expand to the remainder of Broadway and First Avenue. In November, NDOT will close Fifth and Broadway for about three weeks. On the weekends, they will reportedly open the area, so it doesn't impact businesses. The project is expected to be fully complete by 2026. "We want to make sure it works, we want to make sure there are no problems," Alarcon said.
remember when Metro Council approved $2.6 million in September for @nashvilledot.bsky.social to install and pilot raptor retractable bollards in November?
it is now March.

no worries we will just detour the buses so that they skip the highest ridership transit stop outside of central
βa separate permit is required to change a lane closure to a street closureβ except they just decided to close the whole street without filing that separate permit
β1 lane will flow south for buses and carsβ
image showing the street completely closed and buses having to detour
image showing traffic plan, including the southbound traffic lane that was just not followed
itβs fun when contractors make lovely little traffic control plans and file permits for a lane closure and explicitly state that southbound traffic will remain open but then violate the permit and close the whole street
it's good to see local news calling them what they are: toll lanes

the law just says you canβt rent by the hour, it doesnβt say anything about renting by the minute!
kind of like how the feds threatened the states with a 10% reduction in highway funds if they didnβt raise the drinking age from 18 to 21 and quickly every state obliged because everyone knows building big beautiful highways is more important than people having homes
my understanding is it was a requirement tacked on to federal funding for interstate expansion at the time
they canβt get rid of them because that would require paying back those federal dollars, but the state doesnβt really care to enforce them
5 would be ideal

A 99 operator staged at the Thompson Library can be activated to quickly fill gaps in service inbound or outbound on the 52.
A 99 operator staged at Dickerson Walmart to cover gaps in service on the 23.
A 99 operator staged at the Charlotte Walmart to cover gaps in service on the 50.
A 99 operator staged near the Madison library to cover gaps in service on the 56.
As weather moves in and road conditions deteriorate, you can expect delays and slower travel times.
WeGo has additional buses and operators (we call them 99s) staged at the end of line and midpoint of each route to quickly fill in gaps in service or cover for buses that may lose heat or break down.
