I always liked 404 Media, but this smells like a sponsored hit piece. And it's gone viral because half the world can't read past an explosive headline.
I see people saying "Well, I guess it's back to Google," for Christ's sake.
I guess not many other people saw it coming when I first posted this... maybe it makes more sense now.

That's how I've always understood it. You have a thin layer of protection you don't have with Google or whoever your preferred US provider is, but you're never going to be bulletproof. It sucks, but I don't see it as Proton's fault if they're only providing what they're forced by law to provide.
