The cover of JITTERBUG by Gareth L Powell features a stylised rocket silhouette at the centre of an orrery, with a space suited figure dangling in its wake
Just a reminder that early reviews really help new books gain visibility and readers. So if you enjoy JITTERBUG, please drop a quick review on Goodreads, Amazon, etc. Iโd really appreciate it ๐
I had a BLAST discussing everything from the daily life of a #historicalnovelist, to my relocation to glorious #York, to how I managed to put myself in a wheelchair with @matthewharffy.bsky.social and @justinhillauthor.bsky.social on their brilliant ROCK, PAPER SWORD open.spotify.com/episode/4rQu...

You'll love Druss! LEGEND is an astounding book.
David Gemmell is one of my favourite authors and a huge inspiration. Dunston in Wolf of Wessex is heavily influenced by Druss the Legend. It was a tragedy when he passed away at the age of 57, but his tales remain. Check out this new website all about him.

The words are flowing and the final act is rocketing along. And I got to have a nice walk in the sunshine with Blue. Happy #worldbookday!

โOne must admire Thurstanโs perseverance,โ she said. โItโs an impossible task heโs been set. Itโs killed all his men already. Yet he struggles on.โ
โHeโs safeguarding a saint.โ
โHe doesnโt believe that, Pandulf. He doesnโt believe in anything sacred.โ

The best day of writing on this novel so far, in terms of word count. The dictation software is continuing to be a success. I can see the end in sight. #author #writerslife #writingcommunity #amwriting #writer #writing #authors #booklover #bookworm
As the Great Fire devours London, a simple clerk investigates several mysterious murders. A feast for historical thriller fans from @andrewjrtaylor.bsky.social. A colossal sprawl of religious and political intrigue in a Restoration crime epic. My review: paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/2018/02/out-...
We had a great conversation last night with Sophie Perinot. I've just finished editing the episode and it will be live on the 6th of March. Like us Sophie will also be at the Historical Novel Society conference in August. Looking forward to that immensely.
Paul Finch reviews WOLF OF WESSEX!
"Rich in atmosphere, beautifully written and packed with intense combat. Great escapist fun in the best axe-wielding tradition."
Thank you, Paul!
In Saxon Wessex, a hoary old warrior uncovers a threat to the kingdom. Strong characters sit at the heart of this rollicking adventure from @matthewharffy.bsky.social. Rich in atmosphere, beautifully written and packed with intense combat. Great escapist fun in the best axe-wielding tradition.
First day using new dictation software, and it's been pretty productive. I hadn't used dictation for a while, but it's certainly great for getting your ideas down quickly, even though it does require quite a lot of editing after the fact. #author #writingcommunity #amwriting
I so enjoyed my chat with @matthewharffy.bsky.social and @justinhillauthor.bsky.social. If youโre interested to hear more about the forthcoming Rose & Renzo, you can listen on YouTube now ๐ฎ๐นโค๏ธ
Great day out yesterday with friends old and new. Wonderful game of rugby. Best atmosphere we've had in a Wales game for ages, and Wales almost won! What a bummer that they didn't!
In this episode of Rock, Paper, Swords!, weโre joined by @carolynmanc.bsky.social, author of The Song of Peterloo and Rose & Renzo, to talk about protest, resistance, and writing politically charged historical fiction.

Quote from today:
Helvius Rufus looked back at the white expanse of cut rock. Slapping a hand on his tunic, he cursed at the dust that came off the wool.
โBy the gods, I could not live like that,โ he said. โAll dust, stone and angry slaves.โ
โFire and fighting more your thing?โ asked Severus.
A good chat with my wife at the weekend has helped me fix some of the holes and issues in this book. Making good progress and I can see there is a reasonably clear path ahead now! How is your week shaping up? #author #writerslife #writingcommunity #amwriting #writer #writing #authors
