When I’m drawing conversation, connection between characters is important. This is not as obvious an insight as you may think. Artists can fall into the trap of being obsessed with exciting staging more than the feeling between human beings in the scene.

I got Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz’s Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States by @paulpeartsmith.bsky.social for Fathers Day, and it is an eye-opening, super-informative graphic interpretation that is gorgeously drawn. It’s sadly applicable to our world today, and I highly recommend reading it!
