I hear you! The characters feel like family. And the river too- I saw the stage adaptation of the book while I was in Perth. It was magic.

It’s my favourite book- read it several times a year. I read for the first time when I was living in Perth and now I re-read it whenever I’m homesick for the west, or whenever I need some comfort reading. Love it!
