Blondie was from the Powerhouse in Sparrows Point, and when we relocated the colony in 2018 due to demolition, Blondie lived with Tubbs, until he decided to wander a bit and win over the heart of a neighbor.

Jamie reached out to tell us that Sweet Blondie was recently diagnosed with a mass in his throat and jaw. His family is working closely with their vet to slow its progression and, most importantly, manage Blondie’s pain so he can enjoy the time he has left with comfort, dignity, and love.

The family said their goodbyes to Coal last year and last month to Natalie. When they forgot to end their subscription, they generously donated it to our kitties. Thank you for being such wonderful cat parents to Natalie and Coal and for this donation in their memory. 💕

Coal & Natalie were life long patients of Dr. Sinclair at Cat Sense Feline Hospital and Boarding, Inc. As they aged, they became more particular about their food preferences and the Hyatt’s would have a variety of Purina Fancy Feast and other supplies delivered monthly.

One of our long-time feeders and friend also feeds eartipped cats at her home in southwest Baltimore. We dropped off two more insulated shelters for the community cats who are cared for by residents.

The hardest goodbyes always seem to be the unsocialized kitties — the ones who finally decide you might just be okay after all.

Rest easy, handsome… you trusted us when it mattered most. ’Til we meet again, Flint… ❤️

We are grateful that he crossed our path and that we were able to protect and love him on his terms for the last two and a half years.

These decisions are never easy, and we appreciate your understanding more than we can say. Your kindness truly matters. 🐾❤️

These have been some incredibly emotional hours as we’ve debated what to do. At this time, we have an appointment for Tuesday afternoon to say our goodbyes and give Flint a gentle ending to what has been a very tough life.

Right now, our priority is Flint’s comfort, dignity, and quality of life, while carefully weighing what is kindest for him.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Flint—emotionally, financially, and by simply caring.

We also have to make decisions through the lens of sustainability. We’ve had over $3700 in vet expenses this month. We’ve only raised about 1/3 of Flint’s medical costs so far & moving forward with an additional ~$1,000 in diagnostics is an incredibly hard especially with so much going against him.

We do have the option to pursue an echocardiogram and abdominal ultrasound on Friday. However, we’ve been advised that these tests would most likely confirm what is already suspected from today’s findings.

Even if Flint were to survive surgery, there is a strong likelihood that his time would be very limited. Imaging shows changes in his lungs concerning for congestive heart failure, along with abdominal changes that are suspicious for cancer. Compounding this, Flint’s eye continues to worsen.

Based on the imaging, the radiologist and two veterinarians have advised that moving forward with surgery carries significant risk based on his FIV status and non-regenerative anemia with a hematocrit of 17%.

We had a follow-up appointment for Flint today at Cat Sense Feline Hospital and Boarding, Inc. We also did X-rays with a radiology review to see if anything else might explain his blood values. Unfortunately, the radiology report was not very promising.

And of course, we consulted with Dr. Sinclair too. We are hoping for things to improve for our 12 year old eartipped kitty. Our next appointment at TAH is Jan 2nd. Send him lots of good juju and love…

While euthanasia might be the only humane choice, we want to give him a chance, so long as we can control his pain and minimize the infection over the next week. Special thanks to Dr. Stephens for explaining the labs and challenges ahead for Flint and staying later than anticipated in this weather.

He has a non-regenerative anemia, so we are not sure we can get his values to budge so that he would survive an enucleation. He also has lost almost 4lbs over the last year and a half, which might be in part due to his FIV status.

What is a holiday without a cat emergency? Poor Flint was likely the victim of a cat scuffle. With an early call this morning, timoniumanimal hospital was able to get us in for a pre-op. Unfortunately, Flint’s bloodwork is a mess, which we were not expecting.

Thanks to our supporters, we covered just over half of Grandstand’s veterinary care and as you can see, her face is looking marvelous! Dr. Sinclair has her continuing antibiotics since it was so severe. Merry Christmas from Grandstand and FCBS 🎄
