I play them a little differently than I did in 2006, but I play them the way my intuition tells me to.
I'm not really interested in doing a Casiotone for the Painfully Alone reunion tour or performing Etiquette in its entirety, but to honor the 20th anniversary, I'm going to dedicate a chunk of all 2026 Advance Base shows to songs from Etiquette.
Etiquette is the album that taught me how to trust my intuition.
Beyond my gratitude, I have a lot of genuine fondness for Etiquette. I'm proud of those songs. Even after I retired Casiotone in 2010, I've continued to occasionally play a few of those twenty year old songs at Advance Base shows.
Etiquette remains the most popular album I've made. Thanks to Etiquette, I've been able to tour all over the world & eke out some kind of living from my songs. I'm so grateful for all of the weird life I've lived these past twenty years & I owe so much of it to one half-remembered dream.
Thankfully, she said yes. Then I got to work writing & recording songs with titles I'd read off of a computer screen in a dream.
but I wrote down as much as I could remember from the dream. Those notes became my instruction manual for how to make my next album. I asked Heidi Anderson, the artist who painted the cover of the previous Casiotone album, if she'd be up for trying to paint the album cover I saw in my dream.
In my dream, I found a website with the leaked album cover, title & track listing. I was surprised to see that the album started on New Years Day & moved through a full calendar year with a song for each month. Several of the songs were named after holidays.I woke up before I could download the leak

It's the 20th anniversary of Etiquette, the 4th album by Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. I'll always remember Etiquette as the album that came to me in a dream.
Near the end of 2004, I only had a few songs written for my 4th album when I dreamt that it was already finished & had leaked.
Lessons, the new album by bobbie, is out March 6 on Orindal Records.

"They killed my wife. I don't know what to do," the woman says through sobs in the footage, with a damaged SUV visible in the distance behind her. "We stopped to videotape, and they shot her in the head," the woman cries. "We have a six-year-old at school," she says, almost unable to breathe, as a chaotic scene in which federal officers prevented at least one doctor who was on the scene from assisting the shot victim unfolds. "We're new here," the distraught woman says in despair.
You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.
