what Science Fiction Authors would be fun to smoke weed with

-Le Guin: S tier, great riffs, cool house
-Philip K Dick: initially fun, would get dark quick
-Harlan Ellison: absolutely rancid would roll a joint with nothing but seeds
-Theodore Sturgeon: rolls a joint that would put you in a coma

β€œI believe life is a continuum, and that no one really dies, they just drop their physical body and we'll all meet again, like the song says. It's sad but it's not devastating if you think like that... We're all going to be fine at the end of the story.” β€” David Lynch

The Enclosure of the Human Psyche The Convivial Society: Vol. 5, No. 13

Alright friends, new post in which I offer an analogy that I hope is helpful and constructive: "Resist the Enclosure of the Human Psyche."

It's a source of vexation to me that there's no proper word for the study of fairies - and I suspect the absence of such a term may be one reason why the study of fairies doesn't get taken seriously. So what are the potential options? (thread)

Detail from a larger pencil drawing of a Kulindadromeus looking up at something. Kulindadromeus is a small, herbivorous neornithischian dinosaur from the middle Jurassic. It's almost wholly covered in feather-like integument, excepting its scaly tail, limb extremities, and snout. Its overall appearance might be playfully described as a kind of bird-lizard-wallaby.

The very small detail is photographed with a pencil and a penny. The penny could eclipse the Kulindadromeus' entire torso.

Kulindadromeus is friend-shaped.

Reworking an old drawing to offer up for sale next week.

This image was created from a composite of several images from Webb. Visible auroras extend to high altitudes above both the northern and southern poles of Jupiter. The auroras shine in a filter that is mapped to redder colors, which also highlights light reflected from lower clouds and upper hazes. A different filter, mapped to yellows and greens, shows hazes swirling around the northern and southern poles. A third filter, mapped to blues, showcases light that is reflected from a deeper main cloud. The Great Red Spot, a famous storm so big it could swallow Earth, appears white in these views, as do other clouds, because they are reflecting a lot of sunlight.

If attention is a weapon, it’s time to take it back.

The planet Uranus on a black background. The planet appears blue with a large, white patch taking up the right half. The patch is whitest at the centre, then fades into blue as it expands from right to left. A thin outline of Uranus is also white. Around the planet is a system of nested rings. The outermost ring is the brightest while the innermost ring is the faintest. Unlike Saturn’s horizontal rings, the rings of Uranus are vertical and so they appear to surround the planet in an oval shape. There are 9 blueish white dots scattered around the rings.

TΔ“nei te tangata It's the haka heard around the world but why does it resonate so much with people outside of Aotearoa New Zealand?

I want you all to know that I valiantly ignored vacuuming to write this piece about yesterday's haka, haka in general, and why I think it resonates so far. #kikorangi
