Sure, Aziraphale could have fought them off, but the Cretans just seemed so terribly excited to capture an ACTUAL MONSTER and he hated to disappoint them. And honestly, being left alone to read & chill sounded splendid to him. If a certain someone has to rescue him later, well, he won’t complain…

Let’s say the Minotaur myth is based off a time Aziraphale decided to let part of his true form show, just to let things air out a bit. Unfortunately he was spotted by humans in Crete, who panicked and imprisoned the wretched beast in a labyrinth…
