Our cousin is doing a study abroad term in the UK and has come to visit. So far we have: overslept because of jet lag and failed to meet her at the station; taken her to the pub for iftar because we had no food; and had a fun evening of waiting for the plumber because the boiler broke.

In every airport bathroom I’ve ever been in there’s one of the most glamorous women in the world. How? Where are they flying to? Do they ever yearn for a tracksuit?

It’s so common to come across the assertion that books were luxury objects exclusively for the elite in the Middle Ages that I want to guest curate a massive exhibition called “Meh-nuscripts: Books for the Many,” which features just workaday or unremarkable objects.

Worth noting also that we are now at the point where academics also have student loans from after the hike in fees, which I don’t think students necessarily think about

I mean, starting a proclamation for the Royal Mint and then forgetting what the hell you were going to proclaim, who hasn’t been there before

Students had it tough during the worst of covid. But their education continued and they were able to get their degrees, despite a global pandemic and dysfunctional government. Like 1000s of colleagues, I worked way over the odds, while dealing with domestic pressures. This action feels very cruel.
