Stevie the dachshund does not see the irony in watching for squirrels with his squirrel friend. he's too busy being locked in on the happenings outside his window.

Next on Oscars BP viewing (also Intl Feature): Sentimental Value. Far superior to The Secret Agent. Fair amount of English in addition to subtitles for Norwegian/Swedish. Excellent performances as 4 acting noms attest. Serious themes, deliberate pacing, emotional depth. Very good film.

Next on Oscars BP (also Intl Feature) viewing: The Secret Agent (newly dropped on Hulu). Didn’t really understand what was going on until well into 2hr 41 min runtime, and not simply because it’s subtitled. And then there’s Hairy Leg - jumps the 🦈 . Not going to be high in my final ranking.

Next on Oscars BP viewing: Frankenstein (on Netflix). I’m not really a Guillermo del Toro monster film fan; I probably wouldn’t have watched this if it hadn’t been nominated. That said, I thought this was a good movie. High production value. Jacob Elordi finds the humanity in The Creature.

Continuing Oscars prep: Today was Animated Shorts. Seagulls and water were common elements this year. My favorite two were Forevergreen and Retirement Plan. I also liked Butterfly. Worst was The Girl Who Cried Pearls which had creepy clay animation.

Continuing Oscars prep: We went to see Live Action Shorts today. Happy to say that it was not an emotionally crushing experience this year. Best two were A Friend of Dorothy and Jane Austen’s Period Drama. Worst was Two People Exchanging Saliva.

Having seen Elio and Zootopia 2 and unlikely to see the two foreign nominees that aren’t on any streaming, we decided to finish Animated Feature prep tonight with KPop Demon Hunters (Netflix). Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Definitely some catchy tunes including Golden for Best Song.

btw: if you want to watch the figure skating gala on peacock you have about 11 hours to do it, just like gymnastics, they take that stuff down after 2 days bc of music rights.

This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal
