Kingdoms of the Dump is one of the year's most charming RPGs, an Earthbound-inspired game set in a world made of trash, where you fight in landfills and heal with moldy sandwiches. Which is fitting — it was made by two janitors.
This week's column: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
I love love loved this project!
A front view of a plywood table sitting in front of a window facing trees and a clear blue sky. A lamp with a clear bulb is enclosed in a cage-like metal frame, and is resting on the surface of the table.
A wooden table with a novel titled "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow" by Gabrielle Zevin, placed next to a glass of iced coffee on a cork coaster. A decorative lamp with a wire frame and visible bulb is also on the table. Sunlight casts shadows across the table.
A warm ambient light illuminates a wooden table, casting radiating shadows from a decorative lamp. On the table, a white plate holds two folded rotis, a bowl of chole with a spoon, and a piece of tofu topped with mixed achaar, accompanied by grape tomatoes. A separate container of Icelandic yogurt with a spoon is placed beside the plate.
A round wooden table with a glowing lamp at the center, casting a radial pattern of shadows and light rays on the table surface. The lamp's design features metal spokes radiating outwards, creating a sun-like effect.
Sharing a different kind of design project today, a table that me and my friend @aylishtime.bsky.social built last spring. 😀
Finished it with an oil coat last week.
I wish I was still in the Bay!!! This looks so cool!
Hi all, if anyone can help, i'd appreciate a share.
I'm looking for good to very good copies of the Dreamwave books please.
Anyone not interested in keeping theirs anymore and want them to go to a good home, let me know and we can work out a deal.
My January reading wrap-up, showing my highest rated reads as "Giovanni's Room" at 5 stars, "The Three-Body Problem" at 4.5, and "Happy Place" at 4 stars.
What I read in January, a month of travel & road trips! ❄️🌟

The Wedding Witch book cover by Erin Sterling
"The Wedding Witch" by Erin Sterling.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love Sterling's other work (Ex Hex is an all-time fave romance) but this one just didn't hit with me. Wanted a little more slowburn development at the start. Felt too focused on the time travel plot than witchiness.
Cute winter vibe read!

Giovanni's Room book cover
Happy Place book cover
Recent reads - 2 books that deal with romance, heartbreak, and trauma in very different ways yet still representative of their eras. Looking forward to reading more Baldwin.

Storygraph! You can import your Goodreads data - I'm really enjoying it, I prefer the UI and stats tracking :)

"Illuminae" book cover
3.5 ⭐️ "Illuminae" by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I wish that I loved this more. The concept and format are amazing but the story is character-driven w/ flat protags. "Snarky teenager" dialogue & writing...not for me.
Interesting worldbuilding. Won't finish the trilogy.

Oh cool, I haven't tried out buddy reads yet!
Fable vs. Storygraph vs. Goodreads?
I made a Storygraph last month & love the data visualization but all of my friends are on Goodreads & it's tough to have the same socialization on Storygraph.
I've heard good things about Fable, especially w/ book clubs - any strong preferences on #booksky?

"Severance" by Ling Ma! I see that you already have "Station Eleven" on the list so i have to recommend "Sea of Tranquility" as well :)
"The Three-Body Problem" by Cixin Liu book cover.
4.5 ⭐️ "The Three-Body Problem" by Cixin Liu.
Stunningly well-crafted and thoughtful but a little scientifically dense - a challenging read for sure.
Amazing sci-fi with mystery and heart.
I will now be taking an intro to physics course to better understand the sequels lol.

Perfectly good lighthearted romantic witchy fun. Really loving the contemporary spooky & silly witches and looking for more books along these lines! 🧹🪄 💜 🐈⬛️

Fake relationship with a slowburn romance that feels...really REAL!
I love how Miles is just a nice chill guy and Daphne is a passionate, slightly high-strung librarian. I relate to her strict Whiteboard calendar and inability to socialize (very AuDHD-coded).
Cozy summer vibes

"How to End a Love Story" by Yulin Kuang book cover
2.5 ⭐️
I wish that this book grabbed me as much as it promised to. Although the premise is a bit dark for my romantic sensibilities, I was hooked through the 1st half but slogged my way through the 2nd.
Wasn't rooting for the relationship & ironically disappointing, rushed ending.

Definitely looking for more sapphic fiction recs after this one
Everything Glittered book cover by Robin Talley
Everything Glittered by Robin Talley
3.5 ⭐️ Highly recommend! A genuinely intriguing murder mystery with a cast of naive, lovable teenage sapphics in the roaring 20s. Such a fun story that takes a lot of care examining historical queerness and misogyny. Fast-paced & thrilling!
