Right on man, saw you guys just released this - will have to give it a listen soon!

Don’t forget to celebrate the waning hours of Bandcamp Friday and pick up some tunes from your favorite artists
Every year I usually include one or two dumb picks on my "best" score of the year countdown, and I'm glad that this year will be no different
Surprised I haven't seen any analysis on Young Fathers' use of the "Prelude" from Wagner's Das Rheingold in their score for 28 Years Later (the track "Causeway"). Lot to be said for thematic parallels in the creation of the earth, subsequent loss of innocence, etc.
Somehow never seen this one before
Fuck it why not, put in on your cv, who’s gonna check?
I've seen a ton of reporting about Hans Zimmer scoring the new series All the Sinners Bleed (based on S.A. Cosby’s novel) for Netflix, but he's explicitly co-composing it with Bleeding Fingers. A real shame that all these major publications/sites, including Netflix's social media, are omitting that
I talked a bit about the scores nominated for the Oscars (and, in turn, the BAFTAs), appreciating the celebration of music and showcase of breadth of styles/approaches

The latest Criterion discourse is another reminder that some online film fans really want to be sports fans, this time arguing about hall of fame inductions
Congratulations to Ludwig Göransson for winning the Best Original Score BAFTA for Sinners!
Funny for Jonny Greenwood to score a film like One Battle After Another and then say music and art are beyond politics
Every year I think about how it’s a shame that the Spirit Awards don’t have a best score category - would be a great way to celebrate scores for independent films rather than the same handful of bigger budget film scores that end up getting much of the attention
On the back of the Phantom Thread - Melania controversy, how common is it for composers to have third party use consent rights?
I’m assuming Greenwood has more contractual leverage than most film and tv composers
Funny how often that gets referenced
Wishing a happy 94th birthday to one of the greatest film composers of all time, the great John Williams!
A sick poster for Bushido which is apparently hitting theaters next month, have heard good things and am stoked to check this out
Today’s the first bandcamp Friday of the year, so pick up a few albums and support your favorite artists!
Got a wide range of stuff today, including score (from early guest Gazelle Twin), emo, psychedelia, and more.
What’d you pick up? What’d you release?
Junkie XL has reportedly replaced Ramin Djawadi as composer for Supergirl, the DCU is now 2 for 2 on films having composer changes
Always interesting that it’s generally the same group of guys scoring the various superhero films
If only there was a podcast that would ask Charli xcx about her music for Wuthering Heights rather than whether she wants kids...
Lmao that gif has every possible permutation of his face. Unfortunately that got burnt into my memory as a kid when my cousin made this vid and showed it to me almost 20 years ago

Second pic is channeling Hetfield from the Frantic music video
Listening again through last year's film scores and there are a lot of great ones that sadly got kinda ignored. Fantastic Four (Michael Giacchino) and 28 Years Later (Young Fathers) are more obvious ones, but Smashing Machine, The Shrouds, Eddington, and Anemone are a few other missed goodies
Ludwig picks up the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for Sinners (as expected)
Keep thinking about how The Magician’s Nephew is getting a psychedelic rock inspired score from the guy that made Uptown Funk
Damon Albarn is scoring Luca Guadagnino’s new film, Artificial. It’ll be Luca’s first film without Reznor and Ross scoring since Suspiria in 2018, which Thom Yorke scored - he sure does love his band members-turned-film composers
Bummed to see that Eiko Ishibashi isn’t scoring the new Hamaguchi film - Drive My Car and Evil Does Not Exist were both some of my favorite recent scores
Congratulations to the nominees for the best original score BAFTA!
These nominations also happen to be identical to the Oscar best score nominees…
With Oscar nominations out, check out my interview with Max Richter where we talk about his freshly nominated score for Hamnet:

Oh god you’re totally right…
Congratulations to the nominees for the best original score Oscar!
