For nearly two full school years now, with support from critical Safe Routes to School funding, our @stlbworks.bsky.social team has gone the extra mile day in and day out to bring our unique Earn-A-Bike program to six public elementary schools all across the city. 2/X

The latest group of school-based and SRTS-funded BWorks Earn-A-Bike graduated, pictured in their school lot in front of a painted map of the United States, finished up their program just about a week ago. Still another group is slated to go on their graduation ride tomorrow, in another corner of the city. Let's keep the learning and fun rolling!

This funding would bring Learn-To-Ride, Earn-A-Bike and Bike Bus programs to *nine* schools all across #STL, giving hundreds more of our local kids the opportunity to build confidence, learn critical safety skills, and experience the joy and freedom of riding (+receiving!) a bike of their very own.

BWorks’ SRTS programming application, currently under EWG’s review, is the only proposed education-focused program in this three-year round of funding that would serve Saint Louis Public Schools (eight of them!), plus City Garden Montessori, with youth bicycle safety education and encouragement.

We celebrated five graduating cohorts this week in Earn-A-Bike and Earn-A-Computer, all around the city! And on the Learn-To-Ride side of things, six great kids returned for more practice today with teachers Aaron and Rachel … and all six earned their pedals! 1/4
In a few more weeks, the Wash U students and BWorks grads will gather together in the workshop again as they turn their dream-bike drawings into reality and prepare for test rides later in the semester! 4/4
This semester’s Dream Machines collaboration with Wash U was back underway as well, with BWorks graduates from City Garden Montessori connecting on campus for two hours of in-depth workshop collaboration under the guidance of Professor Lindsey Stouffer. 3/4
Still other groups met their chosen bikes for the first time (during week four of their classes), including a group of strong teen riders at the International Institute. Earlier in the week, volunteers gathered at our new building for another productive workday in that space. 2/4

Today we add to this collection of memories by taking a break with some of our volunteers hard at work preparing our permanent home.
Every once in a while we do take a break and try to look backwards. Today in our memory of this date across the past 15 years; we donated a bunch of refurbished bikes, worked with many a student and even challenged some of our past candidates to some hard questions.
BWorks' first 11 Earn-A-Computer graduates of the year stand inside the nonprofit's computer lab along with their lead teacher, Mr. Tom, at the end of six weeks of commitment.

After the rain earlier in the day, it's turned into a beautiful evening for our first Earn-A-Bike graduation ride of 2026! These rock-star students and teachers are capping off six weeks of commitment, learning and fun, and we're so proud of them.
