I don't know anything about Oklahoma politics.

But I have my suspicions.

In play for Republicans scrambling to get their name on the primary ballot-- it's only a little over three months away.

Not in play for the general.

The primary for Mullin's seat is a little over three months away-- a blink by American electoral standards.

Is the final question supposed to be "Is that precision bombing?"

If so, it doesn't much change how I was describing you each viewed the question.

@camplink.bsky.social l is interpreting it, also fairly in my view, as, "If asked, what 'rationale' does Claude provide for its actions?"

"Rationale" in scare quotes because I don't believe Claude reasons, but it will answer questions phrased that way as thought it reasons. 2/2

This looks to me like different interpretations of the initial question "How does Claude justify . . . ?"

You are interpreting it, fairly, as asking, "What could possibly make this okay?" 1/

The contrast with our nearest neighbors on that one is especially dismaying.

Yeah. No idea what Settings change you might need, @gregdoucette.bsky.social, but it's definitely not the default for me.

I would have guessed a touch under 98%.

The closest you'd probably get is an author who already had a large following prior to social media releasing a new book. Harper Lee with "Go Set a Watchmen" (in terms of sales, not critical acclaim, and ignoring that she likely didn't have a lot of conscious say in the release)?

Personally, I'm in the "no complaining unless someone leaves a mess" camp, but I know it's a big no-no for some.

Ah, got it-- thanks. I thought you were referring to a specific technique I might've missed in the thread.

What was the technique?

I heard you reheat fish in the office microwave.

A Feast for Nerds would have been a great title for a Game of Thrones-themed discussion podcast 15-20 years ago.

She'd definitely try to make "fetch" happen.

When I saw the pictures, I at first assumed the man was GOP, and the woman the Democrat. Part stereotyping off of gender, part stereotyping off of picture style, and maybe partly off of the order of the pictures.

Am I misunderstanding what you're referring to? The Democrat in this election was the man.

What were the results in the previous election?

How many non-Native, non-Black adults are even in the US who are not 4th generation or more recent through at least one great-grandparent?

In my family, there's no one old enough to be in Congress who meets that requirement.

And to clarify, where I wrote "particularly", I meant "particular". As in, I have specific people in mind who I think are persuadable-- if someone actually gets their attention on political matters.

I think there's maybe some potential for that shift among a small group of the generally apathetic-- I'm thinking of particularly people who just aren't that tuned in and don't see a need to be-- but by definition those folks are difficult to reach and unlikely to become consistent voters.

That latter worries me a bit more in Maine than Texas.

I'm sure there are other potential solutions, but also sure they'll each bring their own problems (which will also grow worse the longer we wait to implement a solution).

3. Invest surplus generated via 1 or 2 in something other than gov't bonds: Set up for political chicanery in financial markets and prone to abuse at a time when we need to be particularly on-guard against abuse

1. General tax increase or benefit cut (assuming grandfathering of benefits): Falls disproportionately on younger generations
2. Means testing (really a focused benefit cut): Undermines support for the program

Yeah, I personally lean toward increasing taxes vs cutting benefits. Every solution has its own problems, and the longer we wait, the larger those problems are:

I have fought the better-looking, more-intelligent person in my photo to hang on to my DVDs and Blu-Rays partly in hopes of getting our daughters to embrace the benefits of physical media.
