The notification preferences is a real rough one for me, I just ended up blocking the app entirely in Android settings.
This has long been my policy for local / niche interest Facebook groups too - block the less than 5% of the people in any group who are terrible and all of a sudden the conversations are useful.

I grew up the same, but more for power outage expectations for the well pump than systemic water loss - so I didn't prep enough in advance for Helene because we're on city water and I naively assumed this kind of destruction wasn't possible in WNC.
The number one though, and what had friends moved in with us for the first week - a way to boil water without electricity. People with only electric stovetops / microwave / kettles couldn't easily access drinkable water while under a boil notice with stores sold out and/or completely shut.
Empty clean 5-gallon pails. Full rain barrel or bathtub. Generator. 5-gallon gas can. Camping stove / propane grill. Full propane tanks. Full tank of gas in the car. Bulk pack of batteries and several LED lights. Battery-powered radio. Tarps. Easy-to-cook refrigeration-not-needed food.
