Next Fest is almost over! π
Exciting as this week has been, I canβt wait to put my head down and focus 100% on game dev again.
Iβm dying to start the next round of play testing with Halteria and the new player virus system! π¦ πΎ

Tried a little experiment today, using clear nail polish to capture snowflake impressions on a microscope slide. It actually kind of worked, and was very fun πβοΈ
Will try again next time it snows and hopefully get some better ones!

Iβm working on a special new creature for Cellscape. Halteria is a ciliate that eats viruses irl! In the game your character can get infected with viruses and you can use Halteria to remove them π¦ π

So lovely to see the night sky again. Didnβt expect auroras already! They are strong enough to see without a camera tonight π #auroras #october #norway
Iβm a big fan of whoever invented anti hair wrap vacuum brushes. #thankyou

What is it about this stuff? I get all excited whenever I get to use it
#sosatisfying #parafilm #microbiology
Iβve often wondered about this as we hear a lot about how important a healthy microbiome is in the gut, on skin etc, but then with the mouth itβs still just βkill everything all the timeβ π€

Iβm dying to show you what Iβm working on in Cellscape right now, but every time I say ok NOW Iβll stop and make some videos I go back and keep working on the game instead π
Iβll show you more soon I promise!! Hereβs a pic for a sneak peek at least!

My husbandβs game Freight Manager is coming out in early access on Steam next week! Our house is officially a game studio π

Video games arenβt just a hobby or a form of entertainment for some folk.
They help people through some hard times.
Itβs sad that some people will never understand that.
It definitely is! Maybe thatβs why Iβm so surprised that it can still be so much fun π
Makes sense! Probably depends a lot on the type of game too, and how repeatable it is. Iβm just surprised I can enjoy it at all, I thought Iβd be too focused on the creative side to actually have fun playing, but surprisingly not π
The most surprising thing about #gamedev to me is that I can have SO much fun playing my own game.
As an artist I never get to enjoy my own work, I only see flaws and I thought this would be the same. But DAMN I love my game π
Is that allowed or am I supposed to be humble? π

In this episode of the Microscopic Odyssey, we are diving into the brilliant strategy (and geometry) Lacrymaria olor uses to catch its prey.
Just shared a post over on Substack with lots of art and game news, including a very special commission featuring the most majestic rotifer there is π

You can tell Iβm working on my gameβs settings menu right now because my kitchen is SPOTLESS.

I absolutely love the chaos of the feeding frenzy and this new pathogen mechanic is great fun, but will have to put some sort of limit on bacteria divisions so the game doesnβt just crash π
A screenshot from the game Cellscape, showing a chaotic feeding frenzy of bacteria and protozoa
Increased bacteria spawn rate, ended up with predator swarms. Introduced a pathogen to control the predator swarms. Dying cells dissolve into a nutrient cloud which creates a feeding frenzy for bacteria.. creates total chaos and crashes the game π€£

Actually yeah that wouldnβt even need to be 3D, it could be different depths but still in 2D. Like a microscope as you said. Thatβs a very cool idea!
