I’m 58, until Keir Starmer’s “Island of Strangers” speech and failures over the flags campaign I was a Labour member.

I quit to join the Greens.

Yesterday’s victory by Hannah confirmed that choice for me. Labour is finished. The Greens are the alternative we must all stand behind to beat Reform.

Nadhim Zahawi thinks London is now unsafe, because the other day a tired-looking man walked past him during the morning rush hour.

'UK has been colonised by immigrants', says INEOS boss and Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe In an interview with Sky News's Ed Conway, Sir Jim says Britain faces profound political, social and economic challenges, among them an unprecedented rise in immigration in recent years.

The problem is definitely immigrants and not billionaires who reside in Monaco for tax purposes...

So true. Also, many of the Americans doing literally nothing about Epstein’s American ‘associates’ are precisely the ones lying about Europe & particularly the UK being overrun with child-rapists. It’s insane.

Yes, quite. It's the biggest scandal of this administration, so far, probably. It's an average Tuesday under Johnson.

1. This short thread is about the issue that dominates almost every aspect of politics, and causes or exacerbates most of our problems: the extreme wealth of a small number of people. Here’s the amazing thing: almost the entire political class aligns with the ultra-rich against the rest. 🧵1/10

457 UK armed forces personnel died in Afghanistan during the 20-year deployment.
This is a fucking hideous thing to say. Even by his non-existent standards.

Contempt for the con-men, compassion for the conned...

That was a phrase here after brexit, still hard to do though!

I am once again reminding you all that the UK government introduced an Online Safety Act that is effectively a porn ban on most adult porn websites, but is dithering over banning a website that is actually creating child porn.

But there's more

As I wrote at the time, NESO said net-zero "Holistic Transition" was the "cheapest option", once you take account of the economic damages from CO2 adding to climate change

It said a fossil energy system is only “cheaper” if we “ignore” carbon costs

Yep. The chargers are very much worthwhile at half the price.

Check to see if the Tesla chargers near where you charge are open to other manufacturers. If so, you'll pay around 50p instead. If you charge a lot, for £9/month it'll be around 40p (as low as 20p in unsociable hours).

If you pay attention to any large industry long enough and follow it to its logical conclusion you eventually end up sounding like a communist even if you started off testing CPU case fans. youtu.be/cUrJVdF2me0?...

Bang on about Europe not having free speech.

Police the speech in people from Europe.

Makes perfect sense.

Trumpf: "We had a meeting and I said, 'Why is it we only take people from shithole countries', right?" he said. "Why can't we have some people from Norway, Sweden?"

Probably people from Norway and Sweden don't want to move to your shithole country, while you are in charge.

Labour don't get power often, so to squander a 180 seat majority is probably more depressing than Boris/Truss as PM. Well, ok, not more depressing but definitely more disappointing.

For those following the news re: EU fining X for DSA violations, this thread explains that (despite how we may see the right and the U.S. gov frame things), it isn’t about “censorship” or even content moderation, but about X failing to follow laws about platform transparency and deception. A thread:

Also, if his house is his pension, then presumably he was planning on selling it to take the equity?! Therefore buying a new house at less than 2m so avoiding the new tax anyway? 🤔

On the plus side, it's nice to see a journalist at least try to hold him to account. He falls apart until the slightest pressure which just makes it more annoying he doesn't get it more regularly.
