Also new to the Warren Wilson Fiction Faculty this upcoming semester is @nafissa.bsky.social. Nafissa is the author of Heads of the Colored People, which won the PEN Open Book Award, the Hurston/Wright Award for Fiction, and the Los Angeles Times’s Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction.
In this interactive craft intensive, we explore ways to engage timely, socially relevant ideas while avoiding the soapbox or the heavy hand.
Through a variety of modalities, including satire and humor, we will generate practices for creating timeless exigency in our longform and short fiction.
I’m teaching two @tin_house craft intensives this fall 🙌🏾☺️. The first one, October 18th, is called For Art’s Sake. Registration is $75, and there is a scholarship available. Full course description below:
Dare to create boldly and bravely at the 2025 Tin House Autumn Online Workshop – a place where reinvigorated myths, alternate histories, and the deeply uncanny are all welcome! Let you own unique storytelling take flight and apply today!

My husband has been in the hospital for a low white blood cell count, zero neutrophils, and plenty of opportunistic infections with no end in sight. I’m raising money to help pay for my lodging, which I’m doing to be closer to the hospital. NO PRESSURE at all, but if you’d like: gofund.me/23f3543a
I’m stunned. I thought this was AI. Artificial. Irresistibly.
Sending you so much love, and prayers up for C, my friend 💜💜💜

Please consider donating to a close friend of mine in Durham who has had an unimaginably difficult time and needs money to fix or replace her car so that she can support her lovely kids. Even a couple hundred more dollars will make *all* the difference.
