There's a lot of fun "must have" tools I've found to be unnecessary in the process. Simple & straightforward resources, more like reference material are my favorite. Unfortunately sourdough making is full of opinions (like my response here) so don't be afraid to fail & enjoy the learning experience!

A little late to the conversation, but I've had the most personal success with a starter when using unbleached flour & introducing a bit of whole wheat flour. I may upset some purists, but I also don't weigh my flour & I use tap water, and still manage to turn out some delicious cinnamon rolls.

I'll admit I feel bad for someone when they slip & fall out of the shower and not very bad for someone when they get drunk & shoot their finger off doing tricks. Probably sounds mean, but you learn to be more aware of your personal emotional resources and what you can "afford" to respond to.

I can't say it's gotten easier, but you learn to accept that people have free will, and no amount of safety systems are going to help if they decide not to use them. Some things are purely accidental, some actions are poorly calculated, and some are heavily premeditated.

😅 oh yeah that was a big struggle for me in the beginning. My peers & I are big into going to individual therapy, we have our own peer support group, we're encouraged to take mental health days, & we have closed debriefs with professionals for really awful cases. It's manageable with the right tools

This is me coming from a place where I'm saying the times I've "seen" someone run into a wall, they've ended up with a concussion and a broken nose. Is it possible, sure we always find new ways to hurt ourselves, but those injuries & the way they say he got them set off the BS alarms in my head.

Assigning survivability scaling, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, & surgical intervention codes to traumatic injuries. Data abstraction of the who, what, where, when, why, & how someone was injured that's used for research. Not a medical professional, but I get to catalog what it takes to cause injuries.

My career gives me a unique insight into the energy and mechanics required to shatter a human frontal bone. Most of us cannot run fast enough to do that kind of damage.
