This is a super cool tool! It looks like I'm right where I belong, in the blue circle in between the planetary and exoplanet scientists π
Dr Kareem Carr man: i wish to publish @kareem_carr Jan 21 reviewer 2: your paper is no good man: i'll do anything to improve reviewer 2: it's simple. you must read the work of the great scientist Pagliarini man: *bursts into tears* but i am Pagliarini Andre Pagliarini @apagliar Jan 21 a first: in rejecting an article I submitted to a journal, reviewer 2 noted I failed to engage the work of one Andre Pagliarini Jan 21, 2026 β’ 3:47 PM UTC

Looks like it'll be a pretty good year
Merriam-Websterβs human editors have chosen βslopβ as the 2025 Word of the Year.
On my student's midterm, I think the #1 mistake was that they didn't know the formula for the area of a circle (a cross-section of a sphere) -- the prof fixed it for the exam by writing those formulas on the board
Just like how arXiv uses the Chi to be pronounced like a k/ch sound (archive), it makes latex end in a k/ch sound -- latek/latech

Movie youβve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.
The Princess Bride is always my first choice, but here's a close second (and I've currently only watched KPop Demon Hunters exactly 6 times)

Yeah but 'palindromes' backwards is 'semordnilap' which is a word/phrase that makes a different word/phrase when spelled backwards and that's pretty fun

You're invited to the next public night at Cronyn Observatory!
I donβt really care if AURORA BOREALIS NORTHERN LIGHTS happened to you. It should have happened to me instead.
XKCD meaning of auroras cartoon, showing "normal" at poles, "cool and exciting" in temperate zone, "someone should go check on our satellites" in subtropics, and "A bunch of open questions in Solar-Terrestrial physics are about to be answered" at the tropics
Tapping the XKCD sign again to explain that no, I won't be seeing an aurora tonight. Or at least I really hope not. That would be bad. :)
I made a mistake of opening Bluesky and now I'm cursing the clouds and so jealous of everyone seeing aurorae right now
toronto Clear Sky chart showing all white squares for tonight, meaing total cloud cover

Yes! It helped me find some papers I was looking for for my comprehensive exam (ch 1 of thesis), and showed a gap in the field. It also recently updated me that a new paper came out on the topic (it was my paper lol)

Celebrate Cronyn Observatory's 85th Anniversary on Oct 25th! Join us for talks on the Observatory's history, explore artifacts, and observe through telescopes (weather permitting). 8-10pm, FREE admission!
Construction crane from the deck of the Hume Cronyn Observatory. Spotlights on, pointed directly at the observatory, and the crane itself is decorated in purple and white Christmas lights. No stars visible in the background.
The light from the spotlight, illuminating the wall through the opening in the dome.
I just got back from practicing with the 10" refractor at our university's observatory! Very fun in concept, until I get there and learn that not only did they turn on the spotlight pointed at us, they bedazzled it with Christmas lights too
Vertical comic structured like flow chart. (1) Einstein had an insight that overturned physics, thus proving his value. (2) I hope *I* have value. Iβll try to have an insight that overturns physics, to check. (3) [Time Passes] (4) Oh no! My insight didnβt overturn physics! But I donβt think Iβm worthlessβ¦ [arrows to two different options] (5a) Healthy Path: Maybe this was not a well-thought-out test of my value. (5b) Path of Ruin: The establishment must be *suppressing* my insight!
