I miss the times we had qualified people in the US govt.
I suspect AI is behind this fantastically innovative idea.
There it is. “Pentagon Refuses to Say If AI Was Used to Select Elementary School as Bombing Target” 3/6/26 … 1/
This is important & I don't want my response to get buried as a comment. Humans make mistakes under pressure. But umans can & should also be held accountable for them when they go beyond simple correctable errors & create catastrophic results like war crimes. 1/

A very small green moth with golden fringe on its wings. It looks like a pokemon version of itself.
And the winner of the most ridiculously cute moth attracted to my UV Light Trap goes to....
(Comostola sp?, Geometridae, shot in Siem Reap, Cambodia)
A fantastic project in which I apparently played a miniscule role via the GAGA consortium.
And a good use for AI, unlike stealing people's photos or artwork to create slop.
Well, that renewal won't happen, @proton.me
Is that AI-generated?
I helped discover a lost city in the jungle.
That's ... wild.

Gut feeling was sawfly as well. That little gummy bear body.
Any idea what larva it was?
This is such a good article for anyone working in conservation.
One thing overlooked imo is how the size of organizations play a role, with people in small NGOs working twice as much for twice as less with little protections. First hand experience here 😉

Hey @inaturalist.bsky.social something super weird is happening with my app on Android. While my observations and photos are of insects and herps, it's showing birds as thumbnails. We know birds aren't real so is this some kind of birder conspiracy to replace all iNat records with birbs?!
When I was observing the conflict on the Cambodia-Thai border in 2011, they were using the same 155mm artillery shell, including NR-269 DPICM containing M42 cluster submunitions. It is likely that there are thousands of unexploded munitions littering both sides of the border that'll need clearing.
C'est absolument Himmonde. Avec un grand H.
