If we get nothing else out of this, at least Larry Summers will finally sit down and shut up. #Summers #Epsteinfiles

What's in the latest version of Trump's big bill now before the Senate At some 940-pages, the legislation is a sprawling collection of tax breaks, spending cuts and other Republican priorities, including new money for national defense and deportations.

What I'm reading here is that for a $12,000 tax break for the richest, we are taking $1,600 from poorest, gutting safety net (there are poor women who will not get prenatal care) + adding $trillions to the debt (young people will face brunt of this) apnews.com/article/sena...

Airlines Don't Want You to Know They Sold Your Flight Data to DHS A contract obtained by 404 Media shows that an airline-owned data broker forbids the feds from revealing it sold them detailed passenger data.

I mean, I kind of assumed this, but still. It's not appropriate that we should be tracked and surveilled by the government. Where does it end? What's too much?

This is a lie (not just because Nick Clegg said it, tho that's one indicator at least). You absolutely can make "AI" systems while fairly compensating people for data.

And even if it weren't a lie, then any industry that can't survive without theft and consent violations shouldn't survive anyway πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

ICE Taps into Nationwide AI-Enabled Camera Network, Data Shows Flock's automatic license plate reader (ALPR) cameras are in more than 5,000 communities around the U.S. Local police are doing lookups in the nationwide system for ICE.

This whole connection of national camera networks combined with AI capabilities, and general acceptance of mass surveillance, not a good direction

Trump’s border czar earned consulting fees from immigrant detention firm Tom Homan, a top ICE official, earned an undisclosed amount from a division of the GEO Group, one of two companies that operates the majority of the nation’s immigrant detention facilities.

Border czar Tom Homan, captain of the "zero tolerance" policy that split migrant parents from their kids, was paid money by the private-prison company that profits off detaining immigrants. Drain the swamp www.washingtonpost.com/business/202... @douglasmac.bsky.social @aaronschaffer.com

Hard not to notice that ICE isn't breaking up drug rings or gangs (because we would ABSOLUTELY hear about it if they were), but instead are dressing up like bank robbers and doing the laziest shit possible, like hanging out at immigration court or grabbing people for busted taillights. Worthless

And this is the 12th person to be killed on SODO's 4th Ave S in the last 5 years! At six lanes wide, it's a classic "stroad" where speeding is the norm. Freight and safe streets can coexist, but freight/industry advocates have stymied SDOT's #VisionZero efforts to redesign this street.

One of the ways that Americans have true power right now is by finding community and starting to build resilience between neighbors and groups of neighbors/community wherever they find it. if we are to survive, it is going to be together. Alone we die.
We have to break the cycle of individualism.
