Basically on a good chunk of 8-bit and 16-bit systems the logic forces the shifter to be fed early or too late or in a different fashion when you switch between refresh or screen modes. Doing it around vertical retrace or border/drawing area tends to trigger it.
No interrupts big OUCH.
I was thinking that if you trigger the pixel shifter feeding early you could overscan or shift the entire image left and right. Maybe the shifter is fed differently in say screen mode 0.
(Just what I'm working towards on Sharp so asking.)

Has anyone attempted to mess with the pixel shifter logic on MSX1? Like maybe switch screen modes in the border or in vertical retrace?
I like how my art has improved 10x in the past 8 months.
