Now more than ever Iβm convinced losing Anthony Bourdain meant we lost probably the biggest person on tv who advocated for the wonders of meeting new people and calling anyone online who hated learning new cultures the children they were, ruthlessly to the camera.

The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.

Judith Butler Apology Form:
From: Date:
Reason for behaviour:
[ ] The media convinced me that feminism was solved in the 1980s
[ ] I never actually read their work
[ ] I miss not thinking about gender
[ ] I didnβt realize how much of society is built on gender
[ ] I was jealous of their nonbinary swag
[ ] Mercury was in retrograde
[ ] I will hereby respect JUDITH BUTLER and I will not talk down on the best feminist thinker of our lifetimes

I think reading books actually causes severe damage to the language center of the brain. Reading books is how you get people saying shit like "amidst," which is a word that no one knows how to use anymore. I use it constantly and the youth knock me down to kick me daily while shouting "worldstar!"

i don't think they understand that New Englanders' affection for Dunks is only incidentally related to the quality of their products

To any Democrat who ever said about any issue, "Maybe if we agree with Republicans just this far, they'll stop there," remember that you were wrong, it was obvious at the time, and you really should never believe that again about any issue, ever.

i was once too broke to move from one apartment in a building down the hall to another post-breakup. moving isnβt cheap or particularly fun &, by and large, trans people arenβt doing great economically. 401,000 trans people fleeing their governments should be considered a fucking national emergency.

Largely fears over cancel culture among elites are likely motivated by the fact that they truly believe that their status and wealth should shield them from certain moral or ethical standards. Pretending it is anything else is delusional at this point.

screenshot from the linked-to timeline that reads:
February 20, 2016: Insofar as I can tell, the first ever claim that "social contagion" is turning kids transgender.
It occurs as a comment on the 4thwavenow.com "About" page, posted on February 20, 2016 at 5:27pm, under the handle "skepticaltherapist." Shortly thereafter, 4thwavenow.com turned this comment into its own post, called...
February 29, 2016: 4thwavenow.com publishes "Tumblr snags another girl, but her therapist-mom knows a thing or two about social contagion."
As noted in the previous entry, this is skepticaltherapist's earlier comment, posted along with a brief intro from the folks at 4thwavenow. There are several potentially noteworthy things about it, and the comments that follow it:
o It begins by referencing a Star Trek TNG episode in which the crew becomes addicted to an alien video game, then makes the following analogy: "The alien mind control device made its way into my home about two years ago when my then eleven-year-old daughter begged me for a Tumblr account since her friends all had one."
o In the piece, skepticaltherapist describes herself as a psychotherapist, later adding, "As a therapist, I mostly work with adults."
precisely 10 years ago today, the concept of "transgender social contagion" was first invented on the now infamous anti-trans parent website 4thWaveNow. a full timeline of how the concept spread (not unlike a "social contagion") can be found here: juliaserano.blogspot.com/2019/02/orig...
