Emily Rodda
First non-visual artist because I'm realizing I don't have nearly enough artists on the brain for this thread, but Mrs Rodda counts, god damnit! "Deltora Quest" is one of my favorite childhood book series, and its way of subverting fantasy tropes has stuck with me to this day.
Jamie Hewlett
Tank Girl was one of the main inspirations for "Overtracked" and it's weird post apocalyptic world. That and I like the the ratty way Hewlett draws people. I did a art style assignment in school where I mimicked his work, and I ended up especially liking how he draws teeth.
Kazue Kato
If "Amulet" is what made me realize I wanted to draw comics, "Blue Exorcist" is what made me realize I LOVED in depth worldbuilding. There's something about the way demons are treated: Some are good, some are bad, some are in between. I still need to catch up with the manga, though.
Jaiden Animations
Yeah, another one that's no big surprise. I watched her all the time in middle school, and still occasionally watch her stuff. I think my sense of humor and video editing style is the way it is because of her.
Glen Keane
I always remember learning in higschool that it was reportedly torture to be Glen Keane's cleanup artist because of how messy his art was lol. But I was just caught up in how pretty all his loose sketches were. I think it influenced how I ended up drawing hair and fur later in life.
Rebecca Sugar
Is anyone surprised that the gay space rocks show from Cartoon Network, a studio that was my dream job for the longest time, was one of my inspirations? I couldn't even give you specifics tbh, I just know Rebecca Sugar's art is lodged somewhere in my creative psyche.
Kazu Kibuishi
I read Amulet religiously in middle school and that (alongside another series, but I'll get to them) was what made me go "Oh wait, I can draw stuff and tell stories as like, a job?? Neat!" Plus the more subversive fantasy world/lore stuck with me I think, especially the elves.
George O'Connor
the "Olympians" series and its appendix at the end of each book pointing out every little reference and why they were included is the reason why I like including all sorts of innocuous background details in my comics: because it's fun! Also, sick panel composition go brrrr
The Zodiac Lord
Textured lineart, creature design, and the art helped me cure my same-face syndrome. I followed him back in my deviantart days, and for this reason I apologize in advance for digging up your old art(assuming you see this pfff). He's on bluesky under the same name, go follow him!
Alright, let's start this thing off right!
Sage Cotugno
Their webcomic "The Glass Scientists" is the entire reason I draw faces the way I do, especially toothy smiles. Also hands to some extent, now that I'm looking back.
I meant to do this a while ago, but better late than never I guess
Bro I got off work to see that my bestie DM'd me the vide on discord. Took a month, but the summoning ritual worked!
There are a lot of reasons I love California. This is at least 50 of them.
'just go indie!' 'what's stopping you from making your own projects?' 'start your own studio!' 'there's never been a better time to be indie!' 'this is the perfect opportunity for creators!'
I think they need to stop putting Olaf in things. Yes, I know it's a reference to Once Upon a Studio. I still think it's an excuse to not have to pay real humans. The Animation Academy in California Adventure appears unchanged, at least.
Yep
It's literally the "we are still doing it but now we would like you to be less mad about it." post. After 3 backdowns that didn't even back down they pull out another BIG puppy eyed SUPER sorry backdown that ALSO doesn't back down.
No. You've fuckied your last wucky, UwU.

This is probably cheating since it's not a one and done as OP describes, but for me? Kiki's Delivery Service. It was the last movie I ever watched with my grandma and we never finished it. I don't think I could ever watch it again.
