Periodic reminder that ICE does not just track and watch immigrants. They are collecting and storing information on us all.
Looking very handsome!
for those fixated on congressional authorization, i get it. this is a massive violation of our constitutional order.
even so, congress *cannot* legitimize an illegal war. there is nothing congress can do to make it legal under int'l law.
Stop calling everything a distraction.
It's not funny or clever.
It's insulting to people's intelligence.
It minimizes what is actually going on.
It also discounts that some politicians are just evil and stupid.
Sometimes I wish I could slap people through the internet.
I dont think he was bad faith. I was pointing out that it could've happened sooner. Youre right that fielding a crises is hard & probably delayed it. The article could've written it better.
Now the convo should center the ableism and racism that came from this, because thats the pressing issue
The point of apologizing, even for something unintended, is often to help alleviate the harm caused.
That article you posted came out today, so hopefully once it gets seen everyone will realize he apologized and this will be a settled thing.
I am not NT. And my wording may have been off, but I do not believe he ever meant it the slur. By genuine I just meant a direct apology to those affected, not a broad one to everyone.
It was involuntary and he did not mean harm, and he says himself in that article he felt a lot of shame about it.
He is not culpable for his tic, which everyone in this thread has acknowledged was involuntary.
But apologizing for the harm that was caused is the good thing to do in this situation. Because it eases tensions and helps both affected parties. Which he did, according to that article. So thats good
You've ignored anyone proving to you that the words he made in the initial apology most of us saw was not an actual apology.
It is not ablesit to take offense to slurs or expect apologies for them.
The full culpability needs to be aimed at BAFTA for the mic, and BBC for not editing it out
If he offered a genuine apology to those affected, that's good to hear. Yet:
1. "Since the fallout" implies it was the backlash that spurred on the apology, which should've been given asap.
2. The BBC should be held even more responsible, for putting a mic near him knowing he would tic
No, his apology was very broad and boiled down to "I'm sorry if you were offended" as the sentiment.
The two black men and the black people in the audience should've been the targets of his apology. And it is very easy to say "I am sorry for the harm I caused, unintended or not"
If you cause harm due to a condition, you still apologize to those affected by it. It was involuntary but the harm was still felt, so there should he a private apology.
Apologizing for causing harm is not equivalent to apologizing for being disabled, and claiming that is disingenuous
Shoutout to Zelda games being around for 40 years
Sucks Nintendo did absolutely nothing for its anniversary but oh well lol
Y'all need to call your senators to block the KOSA bill but I'm also seriously asking y'all to try to do more things if you can like writing to them, emailing them or protesting outside their offices to make sure they vote against the bill
Between this and Prince Andrew, feeling a lot of jealousy for functioning legal systems today
When a sitting representative refers to the Super Bowl halftime show as βpornography,β people should use that to reflect on how they and other representatives are simultaneously working to ban, censor, and restrict βpornographyβ and what that actually means
it drives you insane how much erosion of freedom is justified by concern for kids when the people who actually hurt them will never face consequences
thank goodness it's finally Meat Day
His use of the money and his stances are what matter.
There are plenty of people who purity test to an extreme, but the key factors in a candidate are their policies and ability to inspire people.
We need someone willing to be for stuff, not just against the right.
Actually the phrase is "there are no ethical billionaires" which is true, because there is no normal way to get that vast amount of money in our current system without it being gained through exploitation of the working class.
As a leftist, Id vote for Pritzker. (1)

Please donβt turn the Epstein files into a joke.
This is real for survivors.
Many former victims are realizing for the first time they were used by a system.
How this is discussed online matters.
Tread carefully.
average conspiracy cycle when itβs actually real
The president of the United States had his DOJ raid the Fulton County election office and seized ballots. This is clearly a dry run for 2026. Yet, this is treated by too many in legacy media as normal.

so the arrest of Don Lemon is a 5 alarm fire attack on the free press part of the First Amendment which also can extend to anyone who happens to film and post an event that upsets Trump
it'll be interesting to see who fights to protect having a free press and who does not
every epstein file drop underscores how elite power operates through shared socio-economic networks, regardless of people's ideological differences, populist posturing, or public feuds
the idea that you can βprotectβ 7400 miles of border and tens of thousands of miles of coastline not from attack or invasion but from civilians trying to make a home for their families is an insane white nationalist fantasy. anyone seriously suggesting it should be laughed out of the room
