Had a different glimpse ot the minature forest when I saw this PIxie Cup (Cladonia species) while Iooking for liverworts..

A sea star without a scaly aboral surface is commonly called The Leather Star, or Dermasteria imbricata. This sea star eats sponges, bryozoans, sea pens, anemones, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and chitons, ascidians, and fish eggs by extruding the stomach over the prey until it's digested and absorbed.

A star commonly called The Leather Star, Dermasteria imbricata, because it isn't scaly like some stars roams a reef searching for just about anything. It eats just anything it can find including anemones & tunicates. This star, like the bat star, extrudes it's stomach to digest prey.
