Hopefully Alto is able to filter signal from the noise, in order to implement reasonable engineering solutions giving crossings where needed. But these people would rather burn it all down before considering a compromise. They think they're the only ones to ever make a sacrifice.
I believe in public input to raise local issues, because Alto is now a powerful and fast-moving machine , but unfortunately these people will exhaust any consultation process with hysterical complaints, to the detriment of anyone who has reasonable input.

I like your idea of written responses. For citizens and journalists it's easier to archive, search, and less performative antics for the camera. We have a gov. culture of secrecy regardless of the medium, we need strong media and leaks to keep them transparent.
What people also don't see behind the scenes is the army of 'neutral' civil servants that get roped into prepping minister responses. These same ministers could force open by default within their dept. and save everyone's time, but they like to retain control. Another aspect of the broken system.
Your government is in power. Why not advocate for improving existing VIA services and let Alto make optimized decisions to actually get HSR built.
