Casting call! Looking for a woman voice actor, 50+ who is versatile and a vocal chameleon / can play many different bit parts in an audio comedy.

We’re recording in London on 13th & 14th April. This is a paid opportunity. Actor does not need to be autistic!

Everyone’s Dropbox folders are full to bursting with sitcom scripts & treatments. And it’s harder than ever to get a meeting or a reply to an email. I’m so tired.

Not bothered if Hitler's not in Hell, as long as the people who oversee American payment systems for freelance journalists are there.

The second of my character comedy nights, DON’T BE YOURSELF, lands tomorrow night - and this video should be the push you needed to buy tickets.

How do you sell the most unappealing products in the world? With humor, surprise, and a decent heap of reality

Anuses, blood, and Miriam Margolyes all feature in this piece of mine.

This is the kind of thing a rich CEO says at the beginning of a science fiction movie to establish for the audience that he is a sociopath and the villain.

Gobsmacked to see the worst exchange ever in the most recent one:
"You don't see that every day."
"Or ever."

TimothΓ©e Chalamet Deserves an Oscar for His Table Tennis Alone Take it from Diego Schaaf, who taught the β€˜Marty Supreme’ star how to play: β€œI could see immediately the guy knows how to move; he’s in very good control of his body.”

Interviewed Chalamet's ping-pong coach and argued that he (Chalamet, not the coach) should win an Oscar for his performance.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

A propos of rewatching it the other night: can’t get over Rich Fulcher in Wonka having his ability to β€˜speak underwater’ only be relevant for one bit where he pretends to admonish an octopus underwater while on the phone. After about an hour it’s the most audaciously, extravagantly lame pay-off.

I think perhaps it was marketed as near-farce - that was the film I wanted to see and thought I’d paid to see (partly my fault, I suppose). It gestured towards it at times but then got so incredibly bleak and the protagonist completely irredeemable. A crazy mishmash of energies.

Really really disappointing. Didn’t feel like walking out (I’m too cheap) but it felt like a waste of such a delicious premise. Wanted it to go full farce but it was so indecisive about what it wanted to be.

i don’t know why the captions were made so narrow but i’m not re-doing it. here’s some more independently created audio that you can support simply by downloading, for free! or sharing, for free!

30.01.2026 13:01 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

the way to counteract this is to support independent art.

i declare an interest: i’ve set up a store where you can buy new scripted comedy before it’s made. the works remain the property of the writers after production; any royalties are split evenly between cast, writer and producers. it’s here:
