What comes next is I will most likely start a smaller project that is more manageable. And you'll see updates about it here, I still have motivation to make games, just not on Trishot specifically. And to be quite honest I was ashamed of it, the game, the sound, the art. I just didn't like it
For some extra explanation. The breaking point for this was when I started getting severe anxiety over realising I hadn't been working on the game and not making progress, it simply wasn't healthy or maintainable.
While I'm not saying it will be gone forever, I'm suggesting that it may see no work for a good while. So far this year I clocked barely 30 hours in GameMaker which is barely any. I had ambitions and I overstepped my skill level and moreso my motivation.
I've been gone a while. School's back which mean time and focus has been diverted away from bluesky and more importantly, my game. And I've been thinking about potentially putting it on hold for a while. I simply don't have the spark for the project I used to. Which makes work a burden.

Did some sound editing & balancing. such as
-Adding random pitch to the sounds of the coin pickup and guns so it feels less grating during long firing sessions
-Adding sound to the dash ability
-messing w/ some dmg values so detonator enemies don't kill you

And so I feel like my scope for this game outweighed my skill capacity
A lot of the older code has no comments and since I've taken a lot of breaks from working on this thing I'm having to decipher this code so there's this little devil on my shoulder telling me to to give up and try something smaller, because I am not an experienced gamemaker developer
And this is a big problem for me because I'm REALLY struggling for motivation at the moment, I dont want to just abandon the project because I have sunk a lot of time into it, but at the same time I feel like it just really wont turn out well, it technically "works" but theres a lot of issues
I'm at the stage in my game where I have a game, but not sure what it really is or what I want it do be, which is a really bad spot to be in because that kind of position breeds a developer's hate for their own project

Havent been working on game much, been too busy playing flyout so not much in the way of progress has been made
alr, progress has been made, more or less done working on a difficulty system that im not super happy with, its kinda buggy and I have NOT finished with the whole "dialing in the balance" thing.

I think I've said this before, but I think a lot of large studios are getting too comfortable for making a poorly optimized games then relying on artificial frame boosters to make up for it.
mb for the relative silence. But unfortunately for your feeds I am back and because im now on holidays, I should be able to work on my game A LOT assuming my motivation lets me :)

Out of like some 15 ingame achievements only 2-5 work in practice
oh right theres achievements in my game, I kid you not I implemented achievements like months ago for testing, then like... never touched them again. So after I'm done beefing up the combat I'll work on that, i should probably set up at least a rough list so i know what to do

Just learned of a cool GM function, its called draw_text_ext_color(), essentially lets you make rainbow text dead easy. I wanna find a way to use it in my game already!
