Well, part of it is likely misogyny because I hear men don’t like to be seen reading books by women, as that’s considered less than.

Revealing the 2026 Women's Prize for Fiction longlist - Women's Prize

women's prize for fiction is exciting, i know, but personally, i'm not a huge fan of literary prizes in general. i don't think our reading should be lead by popularity contests, money, PR etc. some books deserve to be hyped, but some that are - don't. read aginst the grain.

The Women's Prize longlist is very interesting. I have only read one - The Best Of Everything by Kit de Waal. However, I have found myself buying two others this evening. There are several others I fancy reading in the future.πŸ’™πŸ“š

I hear many writers are quitting, feeling like it’s a hopeless time to be creative, but creativity saves us. I hope you’ll continue, because our works are small seeds of a future strewn into the vast winds of the world. Somewhere, some time, they will take root.

We need editorial control here, Bluesky.

*stares, rather. I think one thing and my fingers go ahead and type something else.

Still are, in fact. I only managed to cut back the outside bit. But honestly, all that interaction with their vicious thorns and thanks to using rose gloves, I was virtually unpoked.

I just finished One Leg on Earth I loved it! β€˜Pemi Aguda’ short story collection was a finalist for The National Book Award and lands in paperback on April 7. She’s a brilliant writer!

Same actual guy, I think, β€œinvented” both torture system? And no surprise he was part of Nazi Germany, either, sending autist kids to the death camps.

Worst thing is even though it looks like kid isn’t taking in the stairs and glares and comments, I know, as AuDHD, that they are taking in every in every bit. Do you really want a kid to know you’re so crass and small?

No choice. She had blocked the easy access by locking her gate, where I could have accessed it w/o putting my life and health in danger … I had to go across twain and dale through always uncertain footfalls. But they were rooting in my garden.

What? Is WaPo taking lessons from Canada, where eugenics are rife?

Still working on the novel synopsis. Dunno, is it a way to avoid everything else? Certainly a way to avoid going back into the book hard, at least.

Today I also ventured through a gross and physically excruciating job of cutting back encroaching blackberry canes from neighbour’s place.

We simply lack the ability to judge another’s experience from the outside, but refuse to acknowledge that. In every way I’ve run into thisβ€”queer, trans, autistic, disabled livesβ€”judging the reality of the experience from the outside of the experience is USELESS.

Boy, 2026 feels like it’s been several years long already, and, at the same time, I yearn to turn back the calendar to Dec 31β€”and have the crime victims back with us. But also to catch up personally on work, since life is simply too intercede-y. How’s it going in *your* writing world?

01.03.2026 07:13 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I mean, thank gawd they are. No one wants that in govt hands, but, come on, it’s exactly how you treated writers.

And the actual bona fide theft of our workβ€”which previously had to be paid forβ€”matters a lot. Anthropic and Open AI at least stole my work. (I was part of the Anthropic suit but I’m sure there are appeals up the wazoo.) Ripe that they’re complaining about Hegseth stealing *their* work.

My writing income over the years when it should have been rising has become depleted by at least 90% while prices rose by more than 90%. I used to be able to support myself and two kids on a writer’s income, but now I can’t come close to even supporting myself. AI obviously has made all this worse.

Porochista Khakpour’s work.

Fβ€” rapists. Fβ€” AI.

I just didn’t consent to having my life’s work stolen for zero dollars after spending 30 years writing it, anymore than I consented to those who raped me.

Remember how men used to say, Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? (EYE ROLL.) Well, now I’m saying why buy my books when they’ve been stolen by several AI companies and you can get them for free?

I have no idea how. Public contact only gets gaslit aphorisms back.

Turns out Epstein, even before T, was the engine of modern techno-fascism. And crypto, as he wanted an untraceable currency as part of above, but also to traffic kids.
