Palestinian refugee camps of Burj Barajneh and Sabra and Shatila are being evacuated
These are the people who fled the Nakba and their descendants
The same state, Israel, is the cause of both

This is also a fair assessment, I feel like LinkedIn has somehow gained much more traction for that purpose these days. With a lot more political takes than it used to, at least in my academic-policy-politics-activist circles
In Europe: there is quite a drop, with France leading departures. Twitter lost 2.7 million users there, followed by Germany, 1.5 million. It doesn't mean people have migrated here, but they certainly are interested to move away from the hellhole...

It's growing though! And we should take every occasions to encourage people. I met someone recently who told me they never heard of bluesky. My students are still using twitter.
Then you have @fromtheperiphery.com collective, @thefirethesetimes.com
It really depends on who you follow, I can recommend quite a few! Starting with @ayoub.bsky.social @aymanmak.bsky.social @leilashami.bsky.social @leilana.bsky.social
Me!! Grading students!!
Previously the IDF has issued only much narrower evacuation orders for urban areas of Lebanon (specific buildings or blocks).
Now, as it did in Gaza, it’s telling people they need to get out of whole neighborhoods of suburban Beirut, as well as the entirety of southern Lebanon south of the Litani.
A recent example shared with me: In France, white farmers (the socio-professionnal group with the highest suicide rate)
are more likely to kill themselves than to give their land to black people (often migrants who farming knowledge)

I didn't know about piping plovers and what gorgeous birds 🥹
I mean, also, who do they think is putting *ALL THIS DATA* on the internet??
It's like, the pro-camp read "science for dummies" before getting a tenured position 🫠
We'll keep fighting everywhere and, as long as we can, but we're not oblivious to the odds
Sadly, it sounds like a premonition.

Really, a soul-cleanser in these dark times 💚 may have shed a tear or two. 4/5
It's daily "Bravo!"
"What a beautiful toad."
"I moved this snail to a safe place, I hope he's not too concerned!"
"So many eggs in this pond, this will soon be lively!"
"I patrolled 2 hours and couldn't see anything, they must be having a good night's sleep" 3/5
Besides getting some useful training, knowing my neighbours better and practicing citizen science in a hyperlocalised setting, it's also daily photos of happy newts/frogs and toads being helped to cross the roads that would have otherwise killed them 2/5
Weeks ago I joined this "Saving the ambibians" initiative helping frogs and newts migrate and, as you can suspect, it's the most wholesome groupchat. 😭 100 % recommend for mental health 1/5
I promise, we're following closely 💪🏽✍️🏽
@sarahmedh.bsky.social similar one here
Loads of reports yesterday that former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was killed by US-Israeli airstrikes. Reports have since been withdrawn: He's alive and unharmed (until now)

He's alive actually; reports of his death have been withdrawn since
"Regarding future investment deals for US companies, the ambassador said: “Our largest defence companies want to come to Brussels to talk to local companies about the co-production of weapon systems. Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics are all looking for a partner in Europe.” According to the ambassador, there were meetings scheduled with Belgium’s defence minister, Theo Francken. "That is about billions that can come to Belgium," he said. "
The US is eye-ing military investments in BE to co-produce weapon systems in the future
"He said Belgian prime minister Bart De Wever had “already confirmed his presence”. Meanwhile, EU Commission president Ursula von der Leyen was invited “to bring a large cake” although the US ambassador offered to make the cake himself."
Extreme condescension to the EU: EU Commission president Von der Leyen was invited to "bring a large cake"
