Like every time the lectures put stuff in geometric or algebraic terms I don’t understand it, and struggle to then actually solve the hw math problem
I look at the newtons method and can puzzle out its doing the - hessian raised to the - gradient power but I have no idea why or what that means

1) the classes I’m in sure seem designed to only be passable w/ lots of self teaching just from how grading is structured
2) i really do have some sort of inability to understand math problems unless the material was taught where the step by step way to solve it is the same

I didn't realize how much I took "dead week" (aka no new material in class, expectation is you're studying) for granted in undergrad. I have 2 ISYE midterms in march and both of them have material on them that is released/presented the same time the period for taking the midterm opens
