I just posted a new story on Substack! Itβs a short one, about a twisted, timeless love. Give it a read!

Itβs pretty macabre I think, but I hope you enjoy it!

I dropped my first story on my Substack this week! Itβs a heavy one, about grief, guilt, love, and the monsters they can make of usβ¦

Iβm still new to it, I used to use Wordpress back in the day. Itβs very intuitive and it has an interesting social media component that makes it easy to connect with other writers.
Thanks for reading! If you have Substack, you can subscribe to me, Iβll be posting at least one new short story there weekly!

Hello Bsky! Long time no see, or read. Iβve been deep in the dungeon revising and querying my first novel as well as starting my second, but Iβve decided to start a Substack as a home for short form horror and fantasy.
My first story will be landing there some time this week!

To any wise published authors: is 100k words too many for a first-time authors horror novel? Iβm seeing a lot of different opinions online and itβs starting to worry me as I put the finishing touches on. #HorrorWriting #Authors #HorrorAuthors
Iβve just noticed a massive influx of followers here on Bluesky. I donβt know what brought you to my page, but after being on a long hiatus and contending with a bout of stagnation, Iβve come back to both writing and social media at the same time you all arrive. Iβll call that serendipity
Well, after all is said and done I only got 46k words this #NaNoWriMo. But Iβd say thatβs not too bad for a first time, weβll get em next year. On the bright side, itβs helped me really refine my work ethic toward writing!
I would ask them how to really scare people. Like deeply. To their core. Horror that will stay with them when theyβre done reading. And they would likely say: βLook around.β

Currently about halfway through, so hopefully you can have it in your hands soon! A friend of mine has been reading the first few chapters and posting them on YouTube. Thereβs a link in my bio if youβre interested
Thank you! I wasnβt quite sure if it would make sense to anyone lol. But it felt right
Definitely! What Iβve found works for me is to just move forward through the first draft and then reconcile those inconsistencies in the revision. That way I donβt stop my progress by going backwards
Oh man. This is a good one! They would look world-weary and sad and beautiful. And being around them would be uncomfortable and silent and force you to reflect on yourself. You would want to run from them, but you canβt bring yourself to do it.

I guess Iβm mostly a pantser but I guess with some plantser in me. I have the major plot points in my head when I start writing so I know where Iβm trying to get to. But I like to discover the best path to the end as I go. I find often that characters want to grow beyond my plan.

It was until I found a way to get the ball rolling. Then, I think it came together quite well, but I guess my beta readers will be the judge of that.
This is my first project with multiple major POV characters. I couldnβt imagine trying to juggle 6, but itβs a skill Iβd love to develop
Endings are very hard. When in doubt though, I just have the hand of God come down and solve the problem. It worked for Stephen King!
In One For The Road, there are 3 main POV characters. It was challenging to get their paths to all converge in a way that felt natural but I think I accomplished that. Now, Iβm trying to fill in a couple blanks before the next plot point, while ratcheting up the tension.

I love to write horror because I love to read horror. But on a deeper level, I think that horror is a necessary expression of our fears as a society. It helps us understand and come to terms with the universal fears we all share.

FFS man save some for the rest of us, will you?
I canβt even count the number of times I came up with a great idea, thought about it some more, and realized it was just an X-Files episode
My biggest influence as an author is cliche but honestly, Stephen King. I donβt think anyone infuses characters and world with so much reality. The X-Files really influenced my love for the supernatural as science. Alfred Hitchcocks approach to suspense is one of my commandments
