What should Dems do? Nothing. Make republicans propose a gas tax holiday and then when they do insist that they pay for it by cutting spending on something unpopular (like ICE).

Politically, this is incredibly stupid, but as a policy matter it’s also incredibly stupid.

The Democrats!

Total abortion bans may have reduced rents by 4 percent (?!?!?!?!?). That shows huge demand for living in states that protect women’s lives. California should expand housing production as a matter of civil rights because living here means you simply have more rights - something people really want!

Honestly bro if you're buying gas across the street from Union Station I don't know what to tell you

Disgusting comments. America was founded on the idea of religious freedom. Republicans must denounce this now!

If you get into a β€œwho can cut taxes more” battle with the GOP, you’re going to lose because they are far more shameless and antagonistic to the idea of living in a functioning society.

Don’t concede to their framing that taxes are nothing but a problem to be solved.

This disgusting shit doesn’t belong in American society.

And Republicans who support it don’t belong in Congress.

One thing I feel ought to be discussed more is the fact that basically all rural and suburban places in the US are subsidized by cities. They resent cities. They insult cities. They elect politicians who abuse cities. But none of them could survive without cities.

Extremely Californian thing to be like β€œyeah I could never afford to move to my neighborhood today” and then just move on as if it’s not a problem

True but parking is also evil

That's why we need both congestion pricing and a parking tax!

Cars without congestion pricing are a net loss for the consumer and society.

Thank you for helping make this happen, Congresswoman! I am proud to be your constituent, and I look forward to seeing you continue to work to hold all at ICE accountable for their crimes and human rights abuses.

Donate to Nithya for Mayor! We are running a corporate-free, people-powered campaign.

I just donated to @nithyaforthecity.bsky.social because our city needs a pro-housing mayor.

And LA matches contributions 6:1 up to $257. So if you live in the City and can donate $257, her campaign will receive $1,799!! Go to secure.actblue.com/donate/nithy...

Electrification of transportation is a national security and economic resilience strategy, which would work well for this exact scenario we are in right now.

Anne Frank wasn't sent to a gas chamber, she died of typhus.

For $1 billion a day we could add enough solar panels to double the generating capacity of the US grid in less than five years.

There’s a lot wrong with this report: their methods of analyzing safety are poor: they don’t attempt to quantify the safety benefits of dual-stair reqs. But the most galling? A 7-12.5% cost savings is cited as meager.

10% decrease in hard costs would build A LOT of of housing in this state!

Firefighters are terrible at evaluating risk:

- Requiring all passengers in cars to wear helmets: would save 350 lives a year in California

- Requiring small apartment buildings to have a second staircase: saves zero lives a year in California

The approximate cause of death for Anne Frank was the Nazis. The specific cause of death was the outbreak of Typhus at Bergen-Belsen camp, which overtook her (and others) from chronic malnutrition and medical abuse. These conditions are not, in character, unlike our system of immigration camps today

It sucks we have to wait until 2028 to get better Metrolink weekend service. Weekend demand is 82% of weekday even with much worse service, and ridership recovery is much higher for weekend than weekday!

If you’re following LA politics, make sure to follow @nithyaforthecity.bsky.social. It’s a new account just created for the campaign, so you’re probably not following yet!

43,000 people just in the City sleep on the streets every night because LA doesn't have enough housing and our City *actively* works to block housing from being built.

We need changes in leadership. We need @nithyaforthecity.bsky.social to be our next Mayor.
