Hi, I'm new! Irish GM and player of D&D and sundry other TTRPGs for decades; luxury LARP writer and pretend hero. Persistent experimenter with the crafting of props, gadgets, and furniture for games. Time to role.* *Yes, it's a pun.
:'(
That's a shame. What's the issue?
What use are Ability Scores in Dungeons & Dragons these days? No, really. Go!

Any RPG parents out there? Particularly GMs/DMs? How do you balance running a game with having kids? I've kicked off a campaign with a bang, and now I'm struggling to find time for the basics of writing the adventure...
Startplaying.games ? Your local game shop? Warhammer stores?
Missed our DnD/Curse of Strahd session on Monday night due to being full of ills and still not well yet.
The little halfling bard Horatio Heartsong, poet, actor, orator and all-round cinnamon roll will have to ride again another day.
Cheer me up: tell me about your character!
#ttrpg, #5e
When running any TTRPG, I think the two questions you should ask the most are "How do you do that?" and "What does it look like when...?" Those questions are a great way to get the players involved creatively, especially with new players, and it also helps develop the characters in easy ways.
Need a 5e setting for your players that's focused on exploration of an unknown wilds? I'd encourage you to check out Teldramir!
Teldramir is a 5e TTRPG world setting featuring unique classes, items, monsters, and lore for experienced players and tabletop beginners alike.

I'd say that if you want them to be thematically different, paladins' gods likely have broader aims and probably organised churches concerned with promoting and spreading their religion.
Warlock patrons don't necessarily want or need worshipers, but see a benefit in having pactbound mortal agents.
Great DMing!
Entirely fair on both counts!
Absolutely. So, I'm lucky enough to have travelled quite a bit, and my immediate thought (which I'm happy to be wrong about!) was that someone from the US or UK posted it. The UK is a cautionary tale to Europe about having a partisan media & education system and the US, well...
I was about to be incredibly derisive about this post (OP - not you), but it neatly describes how sheltered and ignorant people in the West are kept about socioeconomics, how immigration works, and, well, everything...
I sympathise with the laughter. Gotta laugh or I'll cry.
Hey y'all! I'm looking for artists. I've got a TTRPG superheroes ๐ฆธ game book that funded and needs a cover and quite a bit of interior art. Lots of opportunities. If you're an artist, I invite you to submit a quote. This is a paid gig! ๐ต
Details in the first comment.
Azalin, ruler of Darkon, with the undead visage of a lich, sits on his throne, contemplating some kind of crystal ball.
Good tracks for a dark fantasy Dungeons and Dragons campaign set in Darkon/Ravenloft - go!

I've made a title sequence for our campaign to be played on the GM screen monitor I've shared previously.
Visuals are set to this banger:

"I pick up the unconscious rakshasa by the feet and wang him at his mate."
Really enjoying this LotR audiobook. I just play it at night when I lie down to sleep, and any time I wake up (which is frequently, for reasons) I can be lulled back to sleep again. The best bit, is that I can listen to it as many times as I like, because I miss most of it anyway! ๐
Beats air mattress on the ground 1,000,000%.
Plus, storage.
We use a pavilion, so overhead storage is great, but I'd rather my kit were under the bed than strewn round the tent!
If it was LoTR production-Bloom/Legolas, then don't worry, he never knew what was going on either!
Twitter without the ads and bullshit, in fairness
Nice. 4e was fun enough, but doesn't quite feel like D&D.
I generally flick through his videos until I vibe with the title and give it a listen. Sadly, I've not listened to his live plays - there's only a couple I really have time for, so I have to be very picky. I tend to listen to Dark Dice and Apocalypse Players.
The one on playing evil characters was so good as a DM tool - it's wasted on players :p
In seriousness, the morality compass thing, differentiating the traits of heroes, villains, antiheroes and *antivillains* was really timely for my campaign design.
Real beds are winning at LARP. I miss my bed, it's not been practical since we had kids. Looking forward to building a couple of child-sized beds to take with us soon, but I'll need a van for that!
Hang in there, buddy. Steal every moment of joy from this life.
I kinda randomly caught a video a few months ago, I think it was 'prepping your first adventure', or w/e. It came on in the background, or while I was driving or something...
Anyway, I was really struck by his calming voice. Been slowly listening to his videos as I prep a campaign.
To qualify: his videos are no- nonsense talks that feel like your 'RPG dad' giving you advice that you expressly asked for. What a calming, engaging voice, and brilliant points of view on common discussion points (perhaps a little less common when he made the videos).
I watched this recently, and... y'know... it's pretty much 100% on everything.
But, then, I honestly rate Matt as one of the best RPG/D&D YouTubers, if not the best full stop.
Absolutely seminal video
