This is how I recall it as well. The issue wasn’t whether a pool was needed. The issue became how it would be classified, governed, and cost-shared across the region. Frankly, if I recall, it was about control, not regional control. (If my memory serves).
We had a culvert problem at our house that caused our family incredible harm, costing more than we paid for the property. I can assure you, that if I am lucky enough to serve as our Mayor in Hanwell, NOT MY JOB will not be in my vocabulary. It's about raising the issues together. #NBPoli
I believe 4 years ago Hanwell voted to fund the pool. More over recommended an Olympic sized pool for competitive reasons. I can’t tell you why we don’t have it, specifically, but Fredericton controls 49% of the Capital Region vote I believe.
I believe New Brunswick could really use a strong opposition right now. As the PCs choose their next leader, I hope the focus is on ideas and solutions, not using minority groups to create outrage. Democracy works best when we debate policy, not people.
This is very concerning for many communities. Let’s hope for a wet spring.

FYI -Property assessments don’t determine how much tax you pay, they determine your share.
If every home goes up 10%, everyone’s share stays the same.
The real driver is the municipal budget (the warrant).
Assessments divide the pie, they don’t make the pie bigger. Though councils may blame them.
This week we will be talking about the checks and balances that let us down. While I was trying to protect and get answers for taxpayer money, taxpayer money was secretly used to stop and intervene in my duties of Councillor of Council. We need reform in Hanwell and NB!

Agreed. It felt more urgent. Canada won silver, and that’s awesome. But I sure wanted a win for Canada.
Every chip (CPU) used for AI or automated processing should & must be taxed. Employers are not employing people saving them $$. $5k-30k a year can go to create a universal income. $30k is cheaper than a person who can work 24/7.
Doing this brings more buying power to Seniors, low income & young.
