Donald Trump’s Presidency Is in Free Fall
Republicans typically lead on the economy, national security, and immigration. Trump is squandering the GOP’s traditional strength on all three.
Remarkable: With support for the Iran war tanking, Trump is now throwing away the GOP's advantage on three core issues: Economy, immigration, national security.
A year ago it looked like he might be popular on all three. He lit it all on fire. 1/

the problem with Markwayne Mullin is not that he doesn’t have a college degree, or that he worked in plumbing, or that he has a compound first name
the problem with Markwayne Mullin is that he is cruel and prejudiced and willfully ignorant and without principles of any kind
let’s focus on that

Mar-a-Lago face couldn't save Kristi Noem
The former DHS secretary's firing shows women are disposable to Trump — no matter how hard they try to please him
Happy Friday! Enjoy my piece about how Kristi Noem was disposable to Trump, despite being the saddest booklicker in his Cabinet.
You can destroy your face to please MAGA, ladies, but it doesn't matter. You're still a woman and they don't respect you.

Noem's bungling proves too much even for Trump
Accountability is still possible.
New in PN: "At a time when it’s tempting to believe nothing matters, Noem's ouster provides reassurance there still can be consequences for abusing power, harming people, and corrupt self-dealing."

I continue to be gobsmacked at 1) how common this formulation is 2) how antisemitic and generally bigoted it is 3) and how for all the talk of anti-semitism this is never cited as an example even though it’s quite literally the original incarnation.

US Employers Unexpectedly Cut Jobs, Unemployment Rises
February data call labor market stabilization narrative into question
Congrats to everyone who voted for Trump and a Republican Congress "for the economy." This is what you get, a sputtering job creation engine that can't make progress like before and keeps rolling backwards.

Corporate Media Buries Story of US and Israel Killing 168 in Girls School Attack
No front-page stories in NYT, WSJ, WaPo. No mention on NBC and CBS Sunday Shows. No stand alone segments on Evening News shows. A death count on par with the OKC bombing is relegated to the back page.
I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.

Texas primary shows that MAGA loves a villain
Ken Paxton’s scandals helped him undermine John Cornyn as the GOP Senate primary goes to a runoff
If advancing conservative causes were the goal, then Republican voters should have backed John Cornyn overwhelmingly.
Instead, it's basically a tie between him and Ken Paxton, who is so odious he could turn Texas blue.
I explain how this happened.

New in PN: Vance's "war on fraud" is a fraud
