The Road Safety Authority is not fit for purpose: Exhibit #3,298
@richmondroadra
Richmond Road Liveable Streets. We are a vibrant community of connected neighbours who are working together to improve our local area - currently focused on safety (road), greening, & connections!
The Road Safety Authority is not fit for purpose: Exhibit #3,298
Having rowed back on lowering speed limits and reforming the Road Safety Authority, Minister Canney is now doubling down on the RSA's failed policies by scapegoating the most vulnerable on the road instead of following evidence-based measures to make our roads safer.

Very disturbing to see the cuts in active transport infrastructure investments.
We're so far behind other European countries.
This will have real negative consequences for public health.
Students have observed hazardous driving behaviour at the at the Collins Avenue East/Malahide Road junction, including frequently breaking red lights, as well as stopping on and blocking pedestrian crossings
So a judge says "Cyclists have become a nightmare in Dublin?"
Actually cycling is much more of a nightmare rather than cyclists. We need to focus on making walking and cycling safer on our streets.

"For years, people walking and cycling have accounted for about 40% of all road deaths and serious injuries. Those who pose the least danger are paying the highest price for a broken system, a fact Judge OβDonohoe seems to have overlooked." - Ciaran Cannon π
It seems like only yesterday that the Taoiseach told us he would do "everything possible" to stop the killing on our roads. π€·ββοΈ
Well, that answers my question π€¦ββοΈ They've undone pretty much all the road safety measures started by the last government now.
Sea anemones and jellyfish donβt have brains, but the way their neurons behave during sleep shows some surprising similarities to humans
π’This protest is brought to you by council delays & car fumes.
We're into #Week20 of rolling community protests this Wed.
Here's pics from the last few weeks!

Dubliner's have been disrupted by noise and air pollution throughout 2025, with Dublin City Council's the Air Quality Monitoring and Noise Control Unit offering a roadmap for how to improve
Thank you to the gang from Irish Sport for Palestine for joining us for tonight's #IBikeBop - we had a blast!

As part of the CHA, we recently launched our report βActive Travel: The Magic Pill.β
It shows that embedding active travel into daily life brings major health and environmental benefits for everyone.
And yet, @dubcitycouncil.bsky.social continues to build active-travel 'infrastructure' like this.
A number of events took place across Ireland to mark the UN's World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims
Candles in the shape of road markings World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. VISION ZERO 16 Nov RSA
Today is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. Everyone has been affected, or knows someone who has been effected, by accidents on our roads. Sadly, the number of deaths on Irish roads has been rising for the past number of years.
For good measure, #Week14 of #community action.
Itβs about #safety, #health, #wellbeing. Having a space to #thrive in community, not #survive together in adversity.

#Week15 milestone - going since 6 Aug!
#Uninterrupted weekly protests by a #community under significant #traffic duress.
When will our Council #meaningfully engage? To help enact DCC policy?

What a great night in Dundalk on Saturday! Thank you to every one who turned out and to Louth Disability Cycling Group for inviting us to the Town!

Thank you Donna for your ongoing support for a #holistic solution that prioritises peoples #health & #safety!

#Week13 of consecutive community protest, a call to trial #filteredpermeability for all users #safety on #RichmondRoad.
We'd rather our children walk than dodge.

Yet another study linking air pollution to adverse health outcomes.
There is no safe level of air pollution.
#Week12 of our weekly community action calling for a trial of #filteredpermeability (barrier-based solution) for a safer #RichmondRoad!
Sustainable mobility? We canβt even cross the street safely.

Great initiative. Not just cities either Roads in the countryside are narrow. Every morning on my way to my daughterβs nursery, Im forced to stop or veer into ditches by SUVs that are pristine & seemingly incapable of going slightly off road. Itβs hair raising seeing them charge unwaveringly at you.
This delay and the dilution of language to βwhere appropriateβ are not harmless compromises. They will cost lives.
Also a #joyful vision of what our street could be
ποΈ bird song not hooting
π§ children playing not motorist road rage
π§neighbours sharing food not getting abused
And all the health & wellbeing benefits that layer on top!

Thank you to everyone who lent their support last week - you are much appreciated π
The @gardai.bsky.social were fantastic. Lots of coverage that we hope raises awareness of our daily lived experiences (& action - @dubcitycouncil.bsky.social π€).
