I've reviewed almost a dozen officer involved shootings/in-custody deaths and one thing that has always stood out to me is that only one of them was unhoused. So many people in crisis are just nominally housed - couch surfing, living in trailers, etc. None of them show on a PIT count.

Today's fatal Officer Involved Shooting will require a Police Review Board. Based on the typical 18-24 month internal review time for OIS cases, I anticipate this case will be heard (by the old system) sometime between Aug 2027 and Feb 2028.
I think one thing I'd clarify/highlight is that we're still managing to keep the lights on for now... it's just getting increasingly challenging to do so. As Councilor Kanal highlights, if you have a complaint, I would still encourage you to file that complaint with IPR.
