I know I'm reading a tarot book so this is not a fair critique but this book is a little too woo woo for me. I was hoping it would talk more about the inspiration/meaning behind the imagery of cards in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck but it's mostly just a few sentences about interpreting each card.
The advice for having clients is funny to me because this is a VERY beginner tarot guide book. So the idea that I'm going to read this and then be like "okay time to start my profession!"
4) More practical advice: she says if you're providing readings for people to have numbers for various hotlines that can provide them help if their problems are serious or not something you can handle. She also says if you're a woman not to be alone with clients in your home.
3) She says that tarot practitioners are usually guided by angels or spirits. She says some people hear their guide's voice but her guides just fill her with confidence in her predictions. I like that she's not making herself seem very grandiose.
2) She says she's using the female gender throughout the book "not for any political reason" but because she's a woman and her clients are usually women, and she also says "it also makes a nice change!" Kind of slay of her; the personal is political, tarot lady!
I got this tarot guidebook from the library because it was suggested in a Reddit thread for people wanting to learn tarot. I just finished reading the introductory chapter and here are some highlights:
1) she suggests having an answering machine for clients so they don't pester you

Content creation in general takes a lotta emotional stamina that I think people are kinda unprepared for. You’re gonna have some 0-viewer streams and you’re gonna have to learn to tank that. Believe it or not, persevering through a lack of feedback actually makes you a better artist/content creator
