I suspect the whole gist of miniature painting is about splashing volumes of light across the model and being mindful of the shape imposed on the light by different types of surfaces. I feel like I'm 1% there, but even glimpsing the goal feels like a level up.
hah, thanks. I started these around the end of the year. This is still quick work for me though! To convince myself to paint anything, I planned to only take 4 hours per. That crept up as I began to enjoy it, so the ones I really like (pirate, paladin) were in the usual 10-12 hours timeframe.
