ADHD & autism are five-to-ten times more prevalent in prisons vs the general population. Refusing to recognise, support & truly value neurodivergent people isn't just inhumane - it's fiscally ruinous. Kids struggle to focus, feel overwhelmed, we call them bad then lock them up. & it costs loads!

Also excited to see a poster from Sunila John on evaluation of language abilities of individuals with schizophrenia. Standard assessment tool wasn't helpful but linguistic analysis of connected speech sample shows promise- good news as have an MSc student planning a study around this #RCSLTCONF2025
