I guess another reason I dont like Ai code assistants is that I like working in the code? And again its /not/ my main timesync, but it contributes to my satisfaction. Im constantly thinking while I write code and it is just fun. Meanwhile telling an ai what I want just feels mind numbing to me.
I think thats a bit idealist. Code review catches bugs mainly via being a different perspective, or also from being an expert already in the code being changed. Sure we try our best to understand deeply but thats still different from the understanding built from writing each detail of the code
GenAI is also practically by design extremely prone to a "this looks correct so I won't question it" bias. And I dont think theres a way to both actually save time with it and also effectively combat that bias. Which is related to the whole deskilling problem with it.
Anyone who thinks they understand the code from review as well as the person who wrote it is deluding themselves. And an ai assistant doesn't in point of fact understand anything, so you're losing a lot. You are building something, pay attention to even the little details, and it will be better.
That saves me time down the line and helps me create more maintainable and safer code.
Someone at work demoed Claude code to us, making the observation it makes the process more like doing code review, which immediately makes me not want to use it. Because you're skipping that deeper understanding.
My main time sync as a programmer is verifying what I've done works as i expect, and trying to think of ways it could go wrong.
I make mistakes and learn from them, gaining a deeper understanding of the real world implications of the code.
I want to open up about something in light of recent news. I was a victim of this same harassment campaign of anti-babyfur people and as a result of the same people like catamara and peeby, my entire life was uprooted. The doxxing that came about impacted not just me, but also my FAMILY and friends

I got 3a and b goldens in celeste recently, been getting them in a somewhat wierd order :p this happened bc I wanted to get better at cycles, and I can safely say I did ^^
Made an update to this last night: pulls from firebot apis directly so no importing needed, and button colors be linked to a firebot custom variable.
Currently the color is only polled on initial load and after button presses.
Man i gotta decide between continuing to improve my deck app or trying to work with someone making one of the alternatives to cover my use cases
Which btw i was able to use mine from my phone during stream last night easily for that reason!
Just to note now that ive done more digging, there are other existing tools for this that are probably better. github.com/dvteixeira24... looks promising. The one advantage mine has currently is that you just need to navigate to the page to use it an not download anything.
Should work from a phone or other device if you enter the ip and forward port 7472 on your router but i haven't gotten around to testing that yet
I made a deck app for switching away from Sammi to firebot, since i need big buttons to click in vr.
This is super hastilly thrown together and missing a lot of things, but is generic enough for other uses, and pulls from a firebot config, so figured id post it.
