UW says new DEI law won't end academic freedom State law now forbids instructors from "promoting" "institutional discrimination." UW says its instructors already don't. Instructors say the law is based on a misunderstanding.

An unidentified instructor attending the session said the new law is based on a misunderstanding of what's actually being taught in classes about structural inequalities. He said the classes target historical forces, not individuals or demographic groups.
