I mentioned before that I'm reluctant to accept LinkedIn connection requests from financial advisors I don't know because experience is that it's just a prelude to a sales pitch from them. I should add "SEO consultants" to that list.

Meta Workers Say They're Seeing Disturbing Things Through Users' Smart Glasses Meta contractors in Kenya told two Swedish newspapers that they're being told to review highly sensitive footage recorded by smart glasses.

Oh wow. This is a serious reminder to check the #privacy policy before you deploy any kind of cloud-connected tech in your life. And be very careful about what and where you're sharing.

I have occasionally speculated that ICE's tactics are as much theater as enforcement. That them tackling migrants and tear gassing liberals is as much a show the administration is putting on for a base that enjoys it as any kind of real law enforcement.

I can't help but wonder if the administration's actions have affected reporting (or the willingness of hispanics to engage with gov't surveys) over the last year. πŸ€”

Have you defined what "winning" looks like?

Ditching ChatGPT for Claude? How to easily transfer your memories and preferences Claude AI now lets you copy your memories and preferences from another AI via a straightforward prompt. Here's how you do it.

Reducing switching costs is probably a good thing. I didn't have much success with this specific advice in my limited testing, but directionally it's sound.

By default it opens as a floating menu that you can drag anywhere you want. I recommend docking it to the right side of your window by dragging it over there. It will snap to the right-side of the window when you get close enough.

In the course of opening and closing Edge windows, probably in the wrong order, last week I lost a bunch of tabs I had open. I could just go to the History tab and reopen them but...this time I shrugged and thought "Eh, lot of those had been open for weeks and I'd never bothered to read them."

I wondered about that too, if maybe the registrant info was just part of the scam. I wonder if we could reach out to somebody at Intuit to clarify?

"If your company is doing so poorly that you have to let half your employees go, you should probably be one of them."

Except most of the high-profile layoffs happening today are in highly profitable companies and seem to have more to do with boosting the stock price than averting catastrophe.

Fake LastPass support email threads try to steal vault passwords Password management software provider LastPass is warning users of a phishing campaign targeting its users with fake unauthorized account access alerts.

Pretty standard #phishing attack method. NEVER click links in an email you weren't expecting. Better to go to your own bookmark in your browser to access the site that claims you need to act.

Had an issue where the #OneDrive app on my #Android phone was rarely showing me the thumbnails of my photos - I generally just got the placeholder and had to open each file to see it. Clearing the cache on the OneDrive app seems to have fixed it.

I still play around with New #Outlook from time to time, especially as they add features and to move towards feature parity with Classic (no, not there yet). But...latest feature I miss is that there's no Quick Access Toolbar in new Outlook. Simplified Ribbon is a poor substitute. 🫀
