I'm glad that Neopets design document was released. It's good for millennial gamers to have a FATAL they can call their own and talk about in hushed tones decades later.
If you think about it, I was kinda the first Swiftie on here but instead of "Taylor Swift" it was "Leicester garage punks Crazyhead" and instead of "thousands of people" it was "me, listening to Baby Turpentine on repeat in my bedroom".
New statement from Neopets responding to Geekify's allegations:

"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in
The worst thing that ever happened to radical politics was "activist" becoming an identity you adopt rather than "activism" being something people do.
Boldly Go. Star Trek with the serial numbers not very convincingly filed off. My favourite Star Trek Game though. Very much focused on the adventures of early Star Trek and tries to feel like a Star Trek episode, not the Star Trek world.
Perfect Unrevised. Really depressing GMless storygame about living in a dystopia and committing crimes. You'll probably end up fucked and even if you don't the best you can hope for is tiny victories. I like it a fair bit.
If I could shoot D&D I would. :(
"Rationalize? I didnβt rationalize anything. I loved Valerie and I loathed Andy Warhol, so thatβs all there was to it.β - Ben Morea, Black Mask/Up Against the Wall Motherfucker
These things are relative. I wouldn't consider it so because it's only 15 years old. :p
Sadly not.
Most RPGs aren't that long to read AND we're not doing uni research/essays. (Well, ok, apart from the academics)
If you want actually funny edge, have a read of Human Occupied Landfill instead - archive.org/details/huma...
Or Violence which actually has a satirical point - www.costik.com/Violence%20R...
Yeah, I think you see what I mean. It's really tedious very quickly. It's not even welldone edgelordism.
Glitter Hearts. I'm not really a PbtA person but if you're looking for magical girls done straight this is definitely one of the more solid and extensive options out there.
Cabal. Really cool little RPG where the "PC" is the organisation (controlled communally) and you play agents as and when necessary. Very versatile with listed organisations ranging from Assassins for Human Rights to warring anime high schools.
(IANAL but you pick up an instinct for a lot of this stuff as a freelance copywriter. Even before I looked it up it immediately set off my "this could get your client in trouble" alarms)
If they're not an educational provider they still need permission to use it as a trading name, even if it's not registered. And the nature of their advertising means I think they'd be hardplaced to argue they aren't claiming to be providing educational services.
Even there you can't legally use it in your business name without a letter of non objection. I'm not sure how easy it would be to do with that; here I think the nature of their business is going to make Companies House very jumpy.
Apocalypse Prevention Inc. Essentially, Men in Black but with a lot more demons in the MiB. It looks really good but it's also high crunch enough that I've only prodded at it so far. (I like a lot of Third Eye settings so should probably learn the system at some point).
If you just want the new worlds, wait for the final (it's massively overdue) release of Reign: Realms and just get that.
Yeah, this really does feel like they've crossed a line to me. I'll drop DMU and ASA a polite email informing them of the situation tomorrow. (And this is me being nice and restrained and not going for a press first approach).
In the light of day I can accept that the "professors" might not get why calling yourself that in the UK is going to be contentious (I believe it just means "lecturer" in the US). But I can't believe the organisers aren't deliberately being misleading with "DMU Branch Campus UK "
Not massively, it's mostly an organisation thing and some new game worlds.
And I'm pretty sure "DMU" is trademarked. But yeah, the whole point of the distinction is that university is protected.
In it up to his neck.

"I don't think my character would do this adventure"
Cool, either make a new PC or sit out the session until they'd get involved.
Thinking I probably will chase this up tomorrow. As I said, passing yourself as a university is a big escalation on the normal hustle culture bullshit.
