Also was not really making a plea to morals but espitomology. Not everyone who is writing through a certain lens or narrative is doing so for moral failings. But initially wasn't hoping to go into what degree free will exists more so just cautioning the non profit industrial complex is not neutral.

How else do we explain most journalists writing through the same very narrow lenses or perspectives that often are disconnected from the diversity of lived experiences in the world? It goes beyond content influencing form too, especially where ad quantity or quality are what's keeping the lights on.

At the same time, without secondary means of funding, yes, who folks can sell their journalism services to and still survive is a powerful force.

Yes I should clarify I intended for my comments to be placed in the context of a ton of other factors influencing a journalist's decision-making and saying everything comes down to a donor is somewhat of an oversimplification of what I was trying to communicate.

And all this matters because being reliant on private or liberal foundations doesn't mean journalism is independent of class biases. Absolutely journalists are going to think twice about upsetting their wealthy donors or their think tank-like foundations who are ideologically aligned with the former

Actually goes even further back than that to Rockefeller and others like the Mccormicks + Carnegies having massive PR fallout from Haymarket, company "unions", and ongoing environmental catastrophes which led to them to go on "philanthropy" spending sprees to try and recover from the PR damage.

Turns out class is real and has material consequences in every area of our lives.

Please look into the history of nonprofits and neoliberalism. Foundations aren't your friend unless the NED or wealthy decide you're useful for their agenda.

Of course, whether or not those 25% would stand up to a hostile Dem governor is an entirely different question.

How many Dem donors or elected delegates, party leadership or committee members, or public officeholders support single-payer? Maybe 25% if we're going off of 2025 party chair elections?

So why is your strategy to have those 86% of voters back folks who have no intention of supporting single-payer?

Browderism dressed up in fancy college educated writing is not "leading with politics" nor is it all compatible with the Merger Formula.

Stop trying to make apple pie socialism happen. We, as in me, are already in our banana bread era.

If you've come across Geese Magazine and are like "why is this so sus?" I'm going to save you some time. Pretty sure it's just CPUSA leaders within DSA making uncomfortably lengthy arguments using piecemeal and out of context quotes for why the Democratic Party is a mass workers party, not DSA.

Red Star is releasing two new pieces today: one on labor and one on the challenges facing the socialist electoral project in the US. (1/6)

Really wish super fans of this party could understand how this feels like a complete abandonment. DHS already doesn't follow the law & giving them money along with a stern plea to change is not a consequence.

I doubt Schumer has any idea how hollow party concern will feel when ICE/CBP murder again.

You're living in the largest anti-capitalist movement since Eugene Debs.

An entire army of people hellbent on maiming worker power back into the Democratic Party so they can keep collecting foundation funding. ACORN and Forge folks can fuck off.

Is this about Hasan Piker? I feel like it is. Bro can't read and him resorting to yelling doesn't compensate for that.

In the center we have folks that are either deeply concerned/raising the alarm but have been getting nowhere in combating either problem or are completely oblivious about what's going to happen in the lead up to 2028.

The left is so fucked rn. Billionaire foundations/former ACORN NGO networks/AFL-CIO/Working Families Party/Indivisble/Our Revolution/Dems are about to try and drag us back to 2014 and on the other side we have folks that refuse to organize outside of micro sects or mobilize for PSL media spectacles

Oooofff. Y'all who signed off on these guests? If workers knew what shenanigans were at play here they would not be happy.

The ACLU Wants to Shrink Workers’ Speech Protections The ACLU is trying to convince Trump’s labor board to overturn precedent that expansively protects workers’ speech rights. The nonprofit wants the NLRB to instead adopt narrower rules that make it much easier for employers to fire workers for speaking up.

Border Patrol agents belong to the same federal workers union as VA nurses, a situation some of Alex Pretti’s colleagues are determined to change.

Bullshit. Drop CBP from the AFL-CIO if you stand behind these words.

The problem too with Dems is we can't really tell who is being authentic opposition or not. Did you vote this way because you had prior authorization from the party or knew you wouldn't impact the bill's approval or is there some degree of actual opposition?

If I read this will I find the issue of class has been replaced with liberal notions of morality and that's how we ended up with what I'm guessing is a call for an indefinite coalition built on censorship of the left & rather than liberation aims to misdirect class struggle under the guise of unity?

Their Family Bought Land One Generation After Slavery. The Reels Brothers Spent Eight Years in Jail for Refusing to Leave It.

The "worst problem you've never heard of" is the leading cause of Black land loss in this country.

Over the years, it's seen Black families stripped of hundreds of billions of dollars in land. It's called "heirs' property."
